I have a 2008 panda with an immobiliser fault and wont start and only have 1 key but car has a pana roof

I also have a 2008 that runs fine and has 2 keys.

Both cars cost me £300 so more of a learning and fun excersise

I would like to keep the pana car so can i swap some black boxes from the working car in order to then have 2 working keys for the non woreing. Obviously the ignition and door and boot handles would need swapped too

Can it be that simple?

Thanks

As long as they are the same engine type and wiring loom

ECU
Body computer
Dash
Ignition barrel
Door lock
Hatch lock
Passenger airbag switch

And all should work as it did in the other car

Hopefully a proxi will add the functionality of the roof

But you can get a replacement key

When you say it has an immobilizer fault, are you sure, does it turn over, is the Arial okay and so on

Thats excellent thank you so much.

Thats next weekend sorted.

And good point about the passenger airbag switch

Luckily they are both 1242cc and both have close to 60k miles

1 question , why the dash what does it hold the security systems need to access
The milage has to match the ECU otherwise the odometer will not work and constantly flash

You can do a proxi alignment but only if the dash has lower milage, you can only correct upwards

Does the engine turn over
Is the battery light light on
Is the oil light on
Is the engine light on

This car does not have a key or immobiliser error

It's lost connection between the ECU and the the body computer

And would be far easier to to fix the ground issue
Than to swap all the electronics and then it be still the same

Update and thanks for the help

Got the car in my unit now and

When you turn the key the starter does click or turn, dash lights dont dim. But the immobiliser light does go out. So mot an immobiliser fault.

So, i connected a jump leat from the battery -ve to the engine block.

Then when i gurn the key tje atarter clicks then all dash dims

So plugged the booster onto the battery and

Vrooommm it fires up

So off to get a new earth strap and charge the battery and take off the seized alternator

Cracking wee car with the twin sunroof, just like driving my wifes range rover with the twin sunroof

So the project continues…

Also picking up another 60k 2010 panda tomorrow , wonder f the air con still works

These are such great wee cars

But then this morning turns over but not trying to start

Getting fuel ok also ran injector tests and all clicked ok

Taking lead 1 off and starting with an earthed spark plug I get 1 orange spark then nothing

Tested coil packs with multicultural and the spark fine

Swapped crank sensor from my other working car and also cam sensor too

No spark

Can I swap my ecu from my working car to test it?

They are both the same 1.2 engines but different specs

Different keys though
Post 2

BCM
ECU
Ignition barrel

Pointless though

Take a video of the right hand side of the dash as you switch the ignition on then crank the engine

Wasnt sure if i could just swap the ecu to see if it fires up then if it did i could swap everything across bcm keys speedo etc

Here a video

Yeh i have a multi meter

Could it be the alternator? The last thing i touched although it did start up after i refitted it or I can disconnect it and see if it starts

Clean the top of the battery negative and use this for one lead

Clean a spot on the engine valve cover and use this for the other lead

Multimeter on DC volts

If it's not auto ranging around 20V

Crank the engine and measure the volts

Ive put an extra jump lead one as an extra earth and still no start

The lights dont flicker it is tre camera

Lights are either on or off

Is there any function in MES that can dig a bit deaper into this sort of non start? Or is there a howto to logically step through the different systems?

Ive checked fuel - ok
Ive checked spark and there is none but the MES coil pack test works fine
Ive swapped the crank sensor and cam sensor and both ok

So only other thing is timing jumped or ecu?
