Hi all, recently bought my grande punto dynamic 2006 and decided to fit an aftermarket headunit. Bought the Pioneer DEH-2600UI and popped out the standard HU (a blaupunkt I believe) and connected the ISO to my new HU, all fitted perfectly albeit a new cage is needed as it doesn't fit. Basically the issue is there is no power to the HU; it won't turn on regardless of whether the cars electrics are on or not. Can anyone shed any light on the situation? I can't find a solid answer anywhere :(

Have you checked the fuse and does it not need to be wired to the ignition live mate?

Do a search mate as I believe this has been covered a few times :)

GP's don't have an ignition wire to tell the radio to turn on. So the radio doesn't know when to turn on or off so it just stays off. Get an ignition wire fitted for the stereo. Just take it to a audio shop and they will just for one in for you. Should only be around £20
I THINK I am right btw. Don't take my words as a fact
Hope I helped as this happened to me

i got my mate to do mine changed some wires round in the iso block then routed a wire (not connected)ran outta time down to power socket to act as the ignition so it turns on and off with the key when i eventually wire it in ha think there's a guide on here on how to do it

I've done plenty of searches and found nobody with a solid solution or anyone claiming any success for that matter :/ the pins on the looms don't line up exactly, maybe this might sort it? http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductMobileDisplay?catalogId=10151&storeId=10001&productId=182927&categoryId=265875&langId=-1

With regards to wiring it to a permanent ignition ie cigarette lighter, I wouldn't have the slightest clue as to how to do that :(

The red live wire that should power it doesn't because of the canbus system iirc so you need to make your own ignition live. Either from the cig lighter or the interior light l. Cig lighter is most common and simplest I would have thought

Halfords would charge you 58921238 pounds for that so I would do a Google search to find a decent place near you. There is a body shop Mechanical garage near me which do everything automotive which is quite lucky really. Bodywork to electrical things like this

There's also a guide on the forums.

Just a matter of removing the gator around the gear stick and splicing the live wire to the fag socket. Then run the cable inside the centre console to the ISO block. A bit annoying but well worth the effort. Wire n spades only cost about a penny so not a budget breaker. Halfords refused to even touch mines.

That's the guide I used mate. Bit of cursing at times but generally a one trick pony. Once it's done you can swap the head unit as much as you please.

What is heavy gauge wire and where do I get it?

It's just ordinary copper wire. I had an old 3 core flex laying about. Sliced it open and pulled out a core. Job done.

Ah cheers, I'm not understanding where/how to connect the new wire to the HU.. :(

On the actual ISO block there's a spare loose red wire. You basically just attach a spade to the new wire and connect into that bullet connector on the wire of the ISO block.

I'm new to all this, I have no idea what a spade or a bullet connector is
