Cabletech of the Wirrel - well done!
Lets get it fitted and finished!

Hurray
We have a hand brake.
New cable fitted.
Bought a classic mini handbrake rubber handle cover... Very smart.
Installed new centre console....
Fitted rather funky alloy ball "Giannini" gear knob.
Looks the part with the chrome five speed gate.
Buckets will slip straight back in.....
Nearly ready.....noted that the driveshaft gaiters have perished again!
Thats two sets - and the cars not moved!
Period stickers next. .....,these will be divisive. ......
I have built up a collection of period stickers from all over Europe.....and some remade ones also.
Guess we need some photos.....

We've always needed some photos Andrew.
I like these cars when they have a proper selection of rallying stickers.....(let's call them decals.):D I think that although they look random when fitted, there will be an art to getting the right balance.

I have six children, a wife, neighbours and friends who all have an opinion!

My weekly perusal of the items of interest available for the 500 revealed these instruments - which to me are screaming out to be fitted into a binnacle in a hot 500.

well......there are a few minors but all major build finished.....the rack conversion will wait.....time to drive!
a return to bodyshop for bonnet closing but other than that its good to go!

I'll get the drivers door sorted tomorrow - the mechanism maybe worn.....first I'll remove the rubber and see if it closes with that missing.....it lined up with keep but only catches on the first part of the catch.......any experiences of this anyone?

Andrew--are you using pukka Fiat door seals, or one of the variety that "Woolies" can supply? Their gear is very good, but their appropriate door seal rubber is a trifle too thick. You must use the Fiat seal. You may find the FRONT of the door is too far in--the rear of the door will try and align with it but can't because there is too much compression on the door seal (at the front).

Hi tom
Its a fiat seal.
The door didn't close well when i bought it.
I will play with it in the morning.
The seal maybe too thick - i'll remove it and see if it closes

Andrew;
Are the doors the ones that came with the car, or after they 'pattern' doors? I had to fit a pair of 'pattern' doors and the n/s door would open more that about 50%--one of the hinges had been welded to the door at the wrong angle (?!). Check that the hinges are correctly aligned where they are attached TO THE DOOR.

Doors are original- seal is not
This problem is resoved by cutting away the "oversize" rubber.
Door closes first time! Blinking pattern parts.
Much more of a concern is the fact that the bonnet doesnt fit.

It will be returned to paintshop to rectify.

Next job to set some steering geometry and then start it up.

Does anyone have images of the seat runner rubbers or a description of what they do please?

Do you mean the ones that sit on the bottom of the seats Andrew? If so there simply stop the seat from bashing the runners when they are put down after letters someone in the rear.
