I have tried everything, baking soda, vinegar, charcoal...
Fiat 500e is a cool little electric car but has a toxic interior.
I was enthusiastic about the car being good for the environment, my pocket and my young nephew under one.
As it turns out, the electric version 2015 leatherette is highly toxic to me and I would suspect to many people.
The symptoms in my case are burning skin, nausea by the end of the day blurry vision. My friends went for a ride and they both had headaches. My passengers have not wanted to put up windows to turn on the A/C because the the toxins make it hard to breath.
It's not a car I could put my nephew in.
I'm going through the process of trying to get fiat to get the skins of the seats replaced or provide options. After I have cleaned the interior several times and Fiat also cleaning it, the Fiat center's response is "the car is performing as designed".
This is not just the new car smell.
I don't believe Fiat set out to design an environmentally friendly car that is a toxic box for humans.
I would not suggest for anyone to get the 500e until Fiat addresses this issue. If you are not effected by it, someone else getting in your car will. Responsible design goes hand in hand with a green interior.
