4 days ago i bought a panda eleganza and went straight off to get an alarm fitted.

The alarm does not work properly and I am told that this is because of the panda’s systems check.

the alarm dealers response was:
when you turn on the ignition the car sends round a little electrical pulse to check that the doors, boot & bonnet are closed. this then shows up as "check ok" on the digital dash display.
Apparently it is also doing this check periodically even if the car is not in use. this electrical pulse is disrupting the alarm system I had fitted and making it go off all the time. The alarm dealers do not know how to resolve this and I may have to get them to remove the system and offer a refund.

do any of you have experiance of this happening before? And do you have any advice?

It has been fitted with a sigma S34. does anyone have this alarm working ok? or can you reccomend an alarm which you have not had a problem with.

Neither fiat UK or my local dealer are able to offer any advice on this, hopefull someone out there knows.

many thanks
james

how much did it cost? the brio catalogue has fiats own system listed at £103.07 :

battery backup siren
volumetric protection
perimeter protection

all from standard remote key

part number:46002793

i would imagine like a lot of modern cars with a lot of electronic jiggerry pokery, the panda doesnt take too well to aftermarket stuff being tacked on incorrectly, whereas this system, accoding to fiat, plugs into the existing loom

i do not have a problem even my car dealer fitted the panda with el cheapo brand that cost less than 50usd (even against my wish)

any way it works fine already 6 month

maybe the alarm dealer fiited to wrong wiring?

Go back to the aftermarket fitter and get your money back.

I had an upgraded stero fitted by the Fiat dealer when I took delivery of my car in April, they did a great job you would never know it was not part of the original spec. I even got the bog standard Fiat stereo in a box with all its fittings and odds and ends handed to me when I collected the car.

Could be to do with the door closure sensors on the new panda...

On other cars this is a plunger mechanism, whereas on the new panda, it's just a flat sensor. You might need your alarm wired into the door itself, as opposed to the sensor.
