Styling Started to modify the Panda!

All early models of Panda had the black vinyl on the b pillars. Looks much better in my opinion.

No no, the black panels come standard as far as I am aware. If anything, they may need a rewrap as the are worn down pretty well and starting to peel at the edges

I have finally fixed the front wheel hubs on the car, replacing the bearings in the process ('cause, why not).

Drove on the new wheels and tires. Yes the ride is a bit more harsh but god do I love the car. Something about doing all of these mods myself makes me feel like a proud mother.

I will post pics soon. Next mod or two I plan on doing is Coops £30 induction mod with original air intake and BMC panel filter (been reading that this is the better of the K&N choice, unless I am wrong let me know).

Also I plan in giving the intake a new coat of paint to freshen up the engine bay a bit. Quite frankly I wish I had the money for a new engine because I am fed up of all the rusted components, specially the manifold (but I ain't rich).

I also got myself a strut brace for the engine (let the haters unleash your fury on this forum), only cost me €66 delivered from Italy. This is to give the engine a new look really. I know it wont give me better handling, rigidity, etc. Purely for looks.

What other mods I would like to do in the future:
Oil catcher can
Oil intercooler + oil filter relocation
Clean engine bay/paint some grey looking areas, bolts, etc
Rubber bumper lip (to give the car a lower look)
Front fog lights in the bumper (like on 100hp)

These are just ideas swimming around in my head.

This car for me is just a doorway into modding cars. I plan on getting an MX-5 project car in a year or two and making mods to that too.

What does everyone think? Please no "thats stupid" or "you're an idiot" comments. Nice positive or negative feedback :)

I will post some shots of the Panderrari in its current state over the weekend. Needs a wash (ugh effort)

As Oscar Wilde so often said, beauty is in the eye of the beholder and often in the pocket of Halfords and ebay.

The induction mod is generally aimed at the 100hp which helps give it the lusty brown voice of Telly Savalas with a bad head-cold locked in a phone box berating his Greek mum's Feta omelette.

It'll be handy to see how it goes on the 1.2, which is a very quiet engine I find.

My engine is a 1.1 sadly :/ but I do have a bit of a bellow from the exhaust (stainless centre pipe and ulter back box). I would like to try it though :) no harm to see the effects.

No harm. Loved that revvy 1.1 engine in the Seicento. Back in the day, I used to simply remove all the air-filter assembly off my Alfasuds. I was never keeping them long so what they hey. Great sound.

I've always said if I had a normal non 100hp panda I would get the rally bodyKit for it!
Or go down the rat/Japanese stance look.
As AB said your know what works for you and go with it, stickerbomb engine bay is not to everyone's taste but do I care, I'm the one that smiles every time I open the engine bay so for me it's perfect!

Totally agree with you Coop :)

I actually would like to do the rally look but the damn kit is so expensive. Besides, I think my standard Panda is starting to stick out more so I am totally happy with that :)

Little photo shoot. Still needs a clean though ¬_¬

Really liking your hard work.

I would recommend putting some time aside to practice your parking though... ?

Thanks Andy :)

I want to do a risky shot in Dublin city that may peak the Gardas interest for a shot or two early in the morning lol will be a tall order but why nosh :D

Good work, nice urban chic and grim-underbelly on the pix, without going the over-saturated graduated filter route loved by Top Gear.

1. Great stance

2. I'd consider losing the roofbars and Panda badge

3. Blue Steel? Really? Like on Zoolander? I preferred 'Magnum'.

Keep it up.

Thanks AB :)

I kinda like the roof rails, it gives it more of a rugged look which im liking. Specially with those chunky tires. I am hoping that the front lowers some more though. Its a bit too high for my liking.

When it comes to photos, a pinch of clarity and vibrance is all i add to photos. Brings out the little details and dull colors. Also, that was my first run with a new Sigma lens

Glad to see someone noticed the "Blue Steel" reference :p

Mmm I am very picky when it comes to tech so it is VERY rare where I would get something Chinese (except smartphones, they are sweet!)

But for lenses, I would fork out the 150 for something like this
50mm lens

I'm using a Panny GH2 so pretty much any lens will go on it with the appropriate cheap Chinese adapter. Apart from the excellent (and dear) Panny AF lenses I have:

Nikkor 35-70 F2.8 macro (mainly as a doorstop...)
Nikkor 50mm F1.4 (1970 mint beauty)
Chinon 50mm F1.9 (1984 mint)

I did a home 'studio' comparison of:

Chinon 50mm @ 1.9
Nikkor 50mm @ 1.4
Panasonic 20mm (aka 40mm) @1.7

The tiny modern Panny pancake was sharpest but to be honest you'd be hard pushed to see that much difference between them.

The Chinon is harder to manual focus (not well damped) and for those of you still using 1940s tech (i.e. SLRs with no EVF and therefore manual focus-zoom) it's harder to get right.

But yeah - the 50mm lenses are cheap as chips (til you drop down to F1.4 and wider).

Gavv...........you need to get the Canon 50mm F0.95. It's HUGE.

Mac...........how about the Zeiss 50mm F0.75? The one they used for the Moon landing and later, Kubrick borrowed to make the candle-lit scenes in Barry Lyndon. Yet to see one of those (2 or 3) lenses on ebay.......
