Re: SEAT Marbella (Mk1 Panda replica)

This is the first time I've looked at your Marbella Si and I have to say those wheels look fantastic. Looks like it's going to be a very nice machine when it's finished.

Would a MK1 Golf lower bumper strip (don't know what you call them but I think FCY10's Panda has one) fit on the Marbella bumper? Looks very good on FCY10's car.

Re: SEAT Marbella (Mk1 Panda replica)

Thanks for the compliments guys, I will see how things are when she is lower but the marbella already has a splitter formed into the bumper. So will probably leave it as it is. Funny that you should bring up mk1 golf stuff though, the car has a mk1 golf gti colour scheme going on

There are more developments in the engine department too, which has got me all excited. I will try to report on that as soon as I can, lots to do at the moment!

Cars usually look better in photos than real life, there are a few dents in this one too! It was an ebay find, and I think I just got lucky with the bidding war as I was the only one who bid (200) out of a fair few watchers.

Its the 5 speed with the nice and revvy 903 engine. The marbella looks are kinda growing on me too.

You have another black one, but a 4 speed 850cc? Or am I thinking of someone else?

Si

EDIT: noticing your signiture...... I guess I am talking about your car!!!

Yes, mostly things are the same as the fiat panda dance or mk1 panda so thats a good way of looking at it. But there are other sources, lancia Y10 for example

Hope this beauty will be making its first forum meet in the summer to show off some tricks.

Hi, just came across this thread again after a couple of months.

Really like the wheels, especially the grey and silver effect. What size tyres did you use?

They are 185/55 r14. I chose Falkens, and am quite pleased with them so far. Plenty of grip for road use certainly. Look forward to putting them throught their paces in the new year.

Re: SEAT Marbella (Mk1 Panda replica)

Well, more to report. Last sunday I ran at the car screaming! And here it is....

Say byebye to 903cc.... (I do like these engines, nice and revvy but now torque )

AAAlmost out!

Gone! Boy is the car light with no engine, can push it with a couple of finders almost!....

Here is the new engine ready to go in. A lancia Y10 turbo engine. And I have to say that the trolly its sitting on was the best buy of the year!!! I was able to cart the engines about all by myself

Ok then, lets try to fit it in the top ( I had my doubts tbh!). And got it about half way down before discovering its impossible!!

Ok...so I guess I'll have to lift the car over the engine instead ...

I had to spread the old girls legs so to speak to get it in though. Should be a simple case of lifting and bolting her in place now. Then I can refit the suspesion and anti-roll bar assembly and bobs your uncle!! I am dead excited now, cant wait for next weekend! I'll be out there if its snowing

That was enough for the day, not having eaten a bite or had much to drink other than a coffee!!

Watch this space!

Are the mounts gonna line up with yours then?

Well, not exactly. I do need to make some modifications to the left engine mount. I am concerned more about drive shafts mating up correctly. But I have the Y10 driveshafts so it should be simple enough.

Do you think that marbella driveshafts would be risky to use with this engine? I supose I may aswell replace them with the y10 ones, its not a lot more effort (sorry, thinking out loud here).

Over all, its not looking like an impossible task.....but early days yet.

Re: SEAT Marbella (Mk1 Panda replica)

Wouldn't worry about the torque though the Marbella shafts. Be more worried that they fit right.

As you say, shove the Y10 ones in and then stop worrying.
