As per advice from some people on here (as well as an imminent long journey to Dublin and back) I've decided to join the AA on an annual basis.

The cover I have is the £39 a year one with National Recovery and Onwards Travel.

I live in N.I so it's UK cover, I'm told that in the R.O.I The AA Ireland will give reciprocal cover so if I break down on the way to Dublin I should be fine! (If someone could confirm that that'd be great!)

Anybody else got cover and how have you found it? :)

The cover with AA Eire is on a none priority basis iirc but they should get to you eventually (I used to work for the AAs European breakdown wing a few years ago doesn't sound like it has changed).

I have AA via a bank account, it's roadside relay and homestart for 120 a year for myself and wife which is about comparable to direct prices if not slightly better. However it also does mobile phone insurance, home emergency cover and multi trip travel insurance as well as some other bits. May be worth looking into for next year as the renewal prices tend to be a bit steep (initially always ring and ask for less!) although you lose tenure based benefits (you get 1 day free Euro cover a year in second year 2 days in 3rd iirc which could be handy if you aren't in Eire often).

I also have a standalone AA membership at the same level through work for free...as oddly working for the AA gives free breakdown cover..

I have 3 years AA cover on my golf which I believe is their top plan covering, home the uk and Europe (including Ireland), but only applies to the one car and does not extend to any other car.

I also have AA cover through a bank account which covers me in what ever car I am traveling.

Hopefully I will never have to use it, but it's an insurance policy to cover me and get me home

I called the AA when my husband accidentally run down the battery while in Bantry. They sent someone relatively quickly and got him going again. Never had a problem with them at all over the years.
