I have a 1981 Fiat X 1/9. Speedometer cable snapped. I can't disconnect from the transmission. The thread connection came off. There's a hex screw just below the connection, undid that. It will not come out. Can anyone help.

I guess you have fixed it by now ? I had to replace my Speedo cable today and the speedo drive that goes in the gear box was stuck in after I removed the hex key, solution was to get a old screwdriver on the thread from underneath and tapping it with a hammer helped tease it out. Now had to order a new speedo drive @£85.
