Hi guys, hope someone can help .

I'm helping a friend with his Uno mk1.

It all started with a noise that sounded, like as if a rag had been caught up around the driveshaft and was flapping about. Obviously checked that and nothing was trapped, but I had noticed that his inner CV boots were split and leaking.

Over time the noise had gotten worse and louder, but went away on acceleration and deceleration, and was sounded like it could have been coming from the rear engine mount. After checking that, noticed that the rear mount was completely knackered, so we replaced that and the other two engine mounts while we were at it.

Note: noise is only there when car is in motion and matches the speed of the car.

But this still hasn't resolved the problem.

We've now pulled the driveshafts out and a quick feel inside the diff, but in my non-professional opinion, it all feels a bit loose, and all movements I can make have the same tone of knocking as it does while driving.

I'm now way out of my depth in knowledge, and need a little help .
