hi guys, if you have read my previous thread, im 16, and wanting an uno but a 1.0 for cheap insurance for next year, but i would be keeping it for many years to come, if i did a conversion,

i know it's possible to do a conversion as ive seen them done, but how hard is it, i know i would need a donor car, uno turbo, but if i did a 2.0 conversion, would i need a coupe donor car, or a tipo donor car, and how hard is it to do.

cheers

I'm going to strongly advise against doing a conversion and driving it as your first car.

The insurance price would bankrupt you.

First car, young driver, male, uprated engine... all means money for Mr Insurance man.

Do it later in life, it really isn't worth it just yet. :)

that would be my idea, just wondering how hard it would be, id run it for 12months, then just buy somthing cheap, and do the conversion but a long time of yet.

Very hard, very expensive, very not worth it, very risky for a noob driver...

Theres no other way to phrase it... Dont bother.

Learn road skills before you go for Power, and buy a car that is standard with more power... but wait... 2 years at least!

How many rusty Uno turbos have you reshelled  It's not Very hard IMO

I'd agree with waiting a bit longer than a year, and cheaper to get a standard powerful car for better insurance prices but it it's an Uno you want, there isn't much choice on the standard good condition front ;)

Price of a rusty turbo + price of a good Uno 45 3 door = less that it's combined value once you have reshelled (if you can do it)

i dont know, it was just 1 of those stupid ideas that entered my mind, i would of loved to do a conversion, to test my knowledge, as ive grown up messing about with cars, i havnt even past my test yet, so im along way of at the min, i was just wondering if it was possible to do with an original uno 1.0, but i suppose it is if you have the time and money.

thanks for the advice guys.

No worries, it's what we are all here for. :)
