Does anybody know any engines from other car manufacturers that may fight on Fiat Uno Turbo MK1. Does Opel/Vauxhall Calibra Turbo engine fit, or is it too large for the engine space anyway or what? Need to change a lot of parts on my Uno Turbo engine, so I figured to change the whole engine and use some alternatives, if possible. Thanks for any helpful information.:worship:

Just my 2p but for an easy job stick with the UT and try to find the parts or a replacement engine. I would have thought the difficulty beyond size will also be making suitable engine mounts, will potentially become an involved project involving lots of modification to the engine bay and fabrication of new parts. You will also need to splice in the engine loom, use the ECU etc from the donor car. Sounds like a nightmare to me!!!!

Hopefully someone will be on with some experience of these sorts of things and offer some good advice on alternatives and best course of action.

2.0 20v turbo coupe lump, mounted in the rear running about 450bhp

or............

450bhp integale evo running gear and 4wd

Any 4cyl engine will most likley fit in the hole. Thats not the issue though, fitting it is!

As Steve says you can shove any engine in the engine bay, but it's the rest of the fittings and fixings (drive shafts, electrics, gearbox, mountings, etc) which cause concern.

Clearly MK1 & MK2 UT engines will fit the easiest.
Punto GT Engines should fit with some work, but nothing too major.

The other alternatives, (Coupe 20vt/16vt, Integrale, etc) flal into the above category, in that they'll need a lot of work to fit right, and work well.

Best option without too much work is a Bravo 1.6 16V engine. You'll need to spend a lot on the engine to make it sutable. Or you could spend a lot on making a sutable engine like a coupe 16VT fit.

Best option is the lancia delta 1.6 hf turbo engine, it slots straight in easy to tune and modify. he he my mate gave me the whole engine, 50k+, box, brakes, loom, complete for nothing, so its in storage maybe for the future!! Ant!
