I bought an Ulysse 2.2 jtd (2003 plate) with RT3 working fine, but only in ...german, since it was a german import. Then I decided to upgrade the software to switch it to English. I did this, but the two push-buttons on the left and right stalk ceased to work. All else seems to work fine. But now I can't reset my trip computer or scroll its functions.
The upgraded cd's were 5.5 and 5.52d. Now I'm thinking to downgrade to some older version, like 5.4.0 or 5.4.1. to regain stalk functionality. Does anybody have the old CD software to upload somewhere so that I can get it?

Thanks for any answers

Note: The stalk push buttons worked fine before the upgrades.

The 2003 Ulysse uses a CAN & VAN bus system and the latest software available for 2003 cars is Version 5.5d. It is important not to try and update earlier cars to version 6 software as this can damage the RT3.

When applying the update, it is important to have your engine running to avoid the RT3 going into economy mode during the update process. During the update, the disc may be ejected and reloaded automatically several times so it is important to leave it alone until you are certain the update has been completed. The whole process can take 10 minutes or more, so don't try and rush it.

I have an ISO image of the Version 5.5d CD which I could email to you if you need it. The ISO image can be burned to a CD using a program such as ImgBurn.

Thanks for your answer.

I have tried the 5.5 and 5.52 software upgrades. These caused my problem (the two stalk push-buttons ceased to function). Therefore I need an older version as the 5.4.0 or the 5.4.1 to downgrade.
Does anybody have any of these?

Hi, I found this procedure on the internet but have never tried it:

Somtimes, it might be useful to have the ability to downgrade the RT3 to an
earlier version. This might be interesting for instance if a beta version needs
to be uninstalled. Here the instructions:

  1. Copy all files from the (old version) system CD to your HD in a new
    folder.
  2. Now open the file CD______.CD with a texteditor (e.g. notepad).
  3. You'll find someting like "CD______0565" at the first line. The last four
digits are the CD number, in this case 565. You'll have to change this number to
    something > 565 and < 585 (as 585 will be the final 5.5).
  4. Save the file and burn the folder content to a new system CD

This implies that you cannot revert to older software by simply inserting, say, a version 5.4, or earlier CD. If your last update was version 5.5D 565 you will need to copy the contents of the earlier version to your HDD and change its version number to something later than 5.5D 565, then burn the modified system onto a new CD.

Unfortunately, I only have a 5.5D version but you may find an earlier version to download from the internet.

Thanks again for your help

I have tried this downgrade procedure (by changing the CD______.CD first entry number) and it works. However, my problem is that I can't find an earlier CD version like 5.40 or 5.41 nowhere on the internet.

If anybody have the original 2002-2004 setup CD in his car I would appreciate if he could send me.

From the description of the problem you have, I would first check for fault codes on your steering wheel stalk unit using Peugeot Planet 2000 or Citroen Lexia. Clearing any faults on your steering stalk unit might cure your problem.

I can't see that changing to any of the versions would stop the steering wheel controls working? After all you are just changing the language. I would get another source of the update disk though as yours could have errors, my copy has updated several eurovan2's without any problems. It does take some time and ejects and restarts several times.

I used to have a disk that could change settings ( not firmware), one if the things you could do was change the voice from male to female and vice versa amongst other things, just thinking if language was an option too. I wonder if I still have it somewhere?!

I can't see the RT3 disabling the stalks - certainly not the cruise control one, anyway. Not long ago I upgraded our RT3 (September 2003 car) to v5.95. No problems. The car had a Peugeot screen (Fiat one failed) and I'd had already LEXIA'd that using VIN number, but screen and RT3 were not using common firmware at the time. Upgrade worked perfectly - adds female voice and ability to play MP3 files (in the head unit, not the CD changer AFAIK). The upgrade disk contains 112mb - even as an ISO a bit large to email. Could upload if you have any web space?

Thank you guys and sorry for being away for so long. I would really appreciate if you could send me your RT3 upgrade or downgrade software. My email is [email protected].
I will try to change voice language as well, to see if that has something to do with my stalks malfunctioning problem.
Thanks again..

Hi, and thanks to all

I am back now and I hope to find some answer to my problem. To make it short, here it is: My Ulysse was a swiss import and the RT3 was configured in german. Not having found in the car the original CD and wishing to change the language to english, I proceeded to the 5.5, then 5.52 and finally to the latest 5.95 software upgrade. The result was to lose functionality of the two push-buttons on the two stalks. So I lost from the left stalk the ability to use voice commands, while from the right stalk I can't change modes for the trip computer; that means that I cannot zero down the distances and watch fuel consumption. The display remains stuck on the first screen, while the consumption shows the average using the distance from swiss to my home(!). Important thing: before the updates, the two stalks worked perfect (with the software in german). Strange thing, but it happened.
Anybody has a fresh idea of what can I do? I would appreciate.

If yours is an import then is it left hand drive? Maybe there is a setting that needs to tell the rt3 if it is Left or Right??

The best thing you can do is to plug the bsi into Lexia and read the fault codes on your headunit/ screen, maybe just resetting the VIN will solve the issues you have.

I'm guessing you've already tried holding down the dark button to reset the headunit?

5.95 will report on your headunit as version 5.5D not as 5.95!

where abouts are you?
I'm Manchester area, I think you need to run lexia first to establish any issues then take it from there. your welcome to come here and play if that helps.
Not wanting to speak for FF but he'll prob assist if he nearer tp you,(FF is scunthorpe area)

Wish I could Clicky but my Lexia still isn't working, I suspect the interface is duff so looking for a replacement, so far the "cheaper Chinese ones" seem to be the best for the eurovan2!
