i have a 2.2jtd ulysee eleganza. the fault code FAP additive low keeps appearing. does anyone know what the FAP is or the additive that goes in it? i have searched the user book but cant find anything. Please help

Hi, there are 2 types of fluid for this, depending on what they used first time, as the first one only covered upto around 50,000 and the second was better as it covered around 120,000. You really need to take it to a decent dealer to get it, toped up if nessasary?, as it is really hard to fill up on your own unless you have a ramp to raise the vehicle. Also, if they do a diagnostic, it could be something else causing the light to appear, good luck

Hi, sorry but I dont know what the 2 types of Fap fluid are called, a fiat dealer should be able to find out which one you have in your car by doing a data check on the vehicle and number plate. It can do damage, as the fluid is mixed into the diesel everytime you top up, so when it does a regen it amanges to burn up the soot particles in the dpf, without it then the dpf may get clogged up and wont be able to regen, which in turn could lead to a possible new dpf which are very expensive. Personally I would take it to a fiat dealer you know and get them to do a diagnostic as sometimes its electrical and not the fap fluid. On my ulysse 2.2jtd, I had to get 3 items replaced luckily under warranty and it has sorted out my problems with the dpf etc and runs like a dream now
