i have a 2 ltr s reg petrol fiat ulysse, whilst poking around under the bonnet to prepare for an MOT (had car since aug 08) my husband noticed that the hose connecting the air filter box to the engine was disconnected!!!! he re-connected but since the car has been ticking over at between 2000 and 3000 rpms, i would disconnect the hose again but fear it may cause some damage what with winter coming up, does anyone have any ideas???? fuel is expensive enough without my car drinking it due to problem

Using unfiltered air is going to be your main worry. Maybe the ECU needs resetting.
