Recently got a 04 Ulysse Eleganza then went and bought some roof bars after being told they will fit any 03 (or later) Ulysse! After taking a look on the roof I can't see how these bars will fit. I've looked at loads of other Eleganza models of the same spec. and they all have a 'grooved T type track' which allows the roof bars to slot in so why is mine so different? It has no track, only a shallow hollow running along the length of the roof, covered by a piece of removable trim. Does anyone know of any bars that will fit without the need to have bolts welded through the roof or am I the only owner out there with this type of roof?

Cheers for getting back 'Steviej'

Name rings a bell or two. Bought it from Fleet Sales in Leicester. So what d'ya know about them, have I got cause for concern or something? Like have I bought half an Eleganza or what? My bro' bought one from there six months earlier and he managed to get a full one. Would appreciate any info going.

As for the roofbars, you'll have to get the roof rail kit from a dealer. I have done this and so have others - there are a few threads on this site and on the eurovan2 site. Fitting is really easy as the plastic trim you mention is removed and the rail fitted in its place with screws. You must get the mastic to waterproof the fittings however. It took me 1 1/2 hours to do it - and the second side is simple once you have tried the first side. Incidentally i got my rails from a Peugeot dealer £105 inc VAT I seem to remember - so try Fiat/Peugeot/Citroen for the best price as its the same item for all.

Re the Addison-Lee cars, again lots of threads on this site. Ours is an 05 plate with autobox that has been replaced under warranty with a new box. AL apparently had issues with the autobox in these cars. I've had no problems with the car so far. If you happen to be in London you'll still see loads of the Uylsse's driving about. The original supplying dealer was Bostons of Milford nr Stafford - hence why they all have reg numbers beginning DU, DY etc.

I bought my '53 Manual last August and have found this Forum great for information and tips. If you've got an Auto, look back through previous posts because I believe they are Big money to repair or replace if they go wrong.
I must admit that I was dis-heartened to find that what I had actually bought was a 'Dynamic' with a couple of extra options (ie. Elec. sliding doors and Sat Nav).
Overall, I'm happy with my car and using this forum keeps you up to date with all you need to know.

Happy motoring Jimmy ;)

Cheers Matt

Was beginning to wonder what I've bought! Fairly happy with the car which seems to be running fine at the mo' and not had any prob's yet (touch wood).
Thanks for the info on roof bars, very helpful. Just presumed when I bought it that all Ulysses of this age or younger were built generically with T tracks!
