Hello all,

I am aware of the fact it doesn't do anything performance wise, but maybe it will do for intake and/or turbo spool sound.

Is there anybody on this forum who exchanged their stock filterbox on their 1.3 Mjet for an open air (cone) filter or something similar and will it increase the intake/turbo spool sound?

If anyone has done it before, can you explain a bit about the connection process?

Thank you in advance.

I'm sure you will get other responses but would just say you have to be careful.

You said you don't expect a cone filter will do much for performance, and I suspect you mean performance INCREASE?

However an incorrectly located cone (or any other air filter) that is not fed with cool air will actually result in a loss of overall performance. May sound good but could be a net loss in "real" performance and opposed to perceived performance with a sporty engine sound.

Correct, I don't expect any performance INCREASE, but if it's there when done right, it will be a nice addition.

I also know I have to place the intake right and fed it wil cold air (at least as cold as the original). I have done some measurements under the hood while driving and found a few cold spots (even colder than the original intake place), even when standing still.

What I do want to know now: the intake size of the turbo is 35mm in diameter and the MAF sensor is 70mm in diameter, so I need a reducer from 70mm to 35mm. I couldn't find it myself on the internet, maybe someone else knows about them?
