Hi there,

just seeking a bit of general advice regarding my car. I have come to start think about selling it/getting rid of it in the next month or so, but in the mean time would like to see people's opinions on what the best option would be!

I bought my Tipo cheaply from auction as a means of getting from a to b, and have really enjoyed using it, but alas I am a student just finishing my course and it is not longer something I really need.

I'd like to know how much my car is worth and what I could generally think about doing with it. It's done 86,000 miles, white, 1.6 i.e. SX on a '94 'L' plate. M.O.T 'til Jan but the tax runs out end of June.

I've seen a similar model to mine in similar condition in autotrader at £800. I think mine is mechanically sound and seen to (the interior mint also) but it has a few minor problems...
It looks tatty from the outside, in that there is rust on the rear door seal, there are dents on the bonnet and same door with rust which are aren't deep or big but spoil the lines of the car. Otherwise looks clean.
The sunroof leaks water as it needs a fresh seal and it also fails to operate.
It also needs a new fuse box which can be bought cheap from a scrappy.
Lastly it has had a replacement dash which reads an incorrect and higher mileage.
Tyre tread is low on the kwik-fit odd jobs. To summarise, the car has character but could do with some cash (under 100) and a weekends work spending on it. I'd hope. I'm worried that I may mess the jobs up and that, being a Fiat Tipo, it may not go for a worth while amount.

Not sure if this post is worth while in itself to be honest, but your opinions are much appreciated.

So; should I fix it? worth the hassle of selling or not? ebay it? auction it? Put it in the classifieds? scrap it? :(

Cheers!

In terms of worth id say you could get 400 quid for it as it is, if you repaired it and did all the fixings yourself you could get another 200 quid more!!

If you were to put it on ebay i would describe it as honestly as possible and put a low low reserve if you want to sell it quik!!

I tried to get a valuation through parkers of ur car but im not a member, perhaps one of the other members could help you out!

Thanks, maybe finding a valuation for it would be a good idea..

I think ebay may be the best, most realistic option though- at least then I will get *some* money for it without too much hassle!

Still open to ideas though as it's not going for a while..

sell it for parts you'll get more, I'll take the Fog lamps off you now if they are mint. Doing this means you'll have to store it somewhere until all the parts are gone and the car has disappeard.

Don't think Parkers do a value on Tipo's anymore, last time I checked online the records were only showin prices of brand new Tipos at £9000.

but from what you have described £800 is the most you'll get from it but dont expect more then £500.

If you sign up to parkers as a member, you will be able to get a valuation of your tipo! (y)

I'm selling mine - same model as yours but 56K on a K plate.

No problems outside and immaculate inside. With a JVC CD /Radio.

Good tyres and MOT&Tax till Jan 2006

I'm asking £500 but don't hold out too much hope - they have been going on EBay for under £250.

As long as I make £200 plus profit then I'll be happy so I may just have to see what happens when I put it on ebay (as it is). I'm kind of settled with the idea of just making a tiny amount as I've been watching other Tipos go for around £300, but thanks everyone for giving me an idea so far of my cars worth. Just got to work out how to sell my car to the average ebayer now!

its true even 16v that are better then astra gsis and rs2000's got for less then a good mountain bike. I think I will buy another, just to hve a 5 door version, not to use.
