I picked up a 5dr 1.4 i.e Tipo in met rosso, im looking for a cheap set of 20vt early style 4 spoke alloys, or a set of late sedicivalvole 5 spokes...

other parts im interested in are sideskirts and lowering springs.

the car cost me peanuts as the previous owner had no mechanical knowledge, just needed a few things for the mot, now looking to tidy her up on the cheap and keep her as a daily runner... im looking to put it on the road in mid september as i loose 6 points off my license (currently on 9, yes i was a badboy a few years ago)

any advice on where to pickup aftermarket sideskirts, the later style skirts as i have an M reg rounded front/dash.

also is there a proper replacement K&N style filter to replace the box for the single point injected 1.4 (not a replacement panel filter) i.e ?

thanks guys, been out of the fiat/tipo scene for abit now!

Well done on snapping up a great car!

Airbox.. don't know about a K&N kit but I really wouldn't bother too much.. The 1.4/1.6 Tipos have the most convoluted, restricted air intake system you'll find on any car.. by the time the air goes round about 4 90 degree bends and through the filter and throttle body and then goes down the cast inlet manifold into the non-crossflow cylinder head, you've lost all reasonable airflow. The standard system is good at controlling cold air from the front and warm air from the rear (exhaust). There were some replacement filter contraptions shown on threads here a few years ago, they may give you some ideas. But personally I'd keep it standard (or maybe an internal panel filter).. these engines are not about power, revs and noise but lots of torque and pull.

Lowering.. again I wouldn't bother unless its only 30mm or so. I did it to a 1.4 and it doesn't really help the looks or handling much, just makes the front bumper scrape on kerbs, sloping drives etc. Better to just replace the shocks with slightly stiffer KYB gas jobs.. quite reasonable.

I can't comment on skirts.. but I think you'll struggle to find something. Concentrate on getting the Red paint nice and shiny, and make the black bits black again.

Finally wheels.. you'll find some photos on here of Tipos with Coupe or Sedici wheels.. but my choice would be Lancia Delta HF 14" jobs like you'll find in the classifieds here... perfect for the car with 185/60 x 14 tyres.

Best to keep things simple and fairly standard with these cars I reckon. Concentrate on the details and you'll have a good motor.
