And here it is.....:D

I'm over the moon with it. The 1.4 engine seems perfectly adequate for my needs and although its still very early days and I have yet to properly work it out, the indicated fuel economy on the computer is already almost matching the older diesel (non FIAT) car I came out of. For a brand new car in this segment at less than £10000, it seems a bit of a steal.

Hey Wol, nice to see your new Tipo in white. Do let us all know how it is working out. My latest MPG on the 1600 eTorq is 38.7mpg over 19 months.

Still mourning the loss of the 1.6 auto!!!!!

Best wishes
Chris

I think with the Bravo, Fiat bravely attempted to tackle the Astra and the German blandmobiles head on, which didn't work, hence the Tipo being offered as a cheaper alternative for intelligent people.

I read somewhere that Fiat only made £90 on every Bravo since it had to have a lot of kit and "quality touches" in it to be taken seriously alongside the German and Ford/Vaux competition.

That makes sense I suppse, since all of them were made in Europe, they all had the same spec' and the same level of finish ... so they must logically all cost about the same. The problem is that larger Fiats just don't seem to ever sell that well, so Fiat ended up not really making any money out of it, for all the effort involved.

Tipo is made in Turkey instead and has less spec' and less "quality touches". It isn't supposed to compete with VAG/Ford/Vaux... more like Hyundai, Kia and Chevrolet (the GM brand for less developed countries). It's punching at the limit of its weight in the UK since Fiat GB seem to have ignored the car's brief and have priced it a little higher than it sells for in southern Europe... :D

But it looks great for the price... and for people who just want a minimum of the superficial stuff but quite robust of the basic stuff. I'm still pining for the not-imported saloon.. :( I might have to visit Oirland and buy a right-hooker from there... though their tax system makes the price a shocking bit fierce.. :D

Good to hear :) How are you finding the MPG and oil usage? My 1.4 T-Jet 120 is doing low 30s MPG currently, but I'm only on 3500 miles. I've also put about half a litre of oil in, hopefully just because it's been running in.

My only real 'problem' (hardly catastrophic) is a rattly drivers door. Can't tell if it's the plastic panel or something inside. Seems to be getting marginally noisier though so I think something needs tightening up. A few people have reported rattles coming from inside the door & it turned out to be a slightly loose mechanism for the door lock/latch, so I'll have to get it looked at at some point. Love the car though, much better to drive than I was expecting from the negative press reviews (n)

I reckon that will be my next model, as the petrol auto is no longer available. I'm now averaging 39 mpg over 21 months. Still like the Tipo a lot!!
