XBoX 360

i've had an xbox for ages now, but i only bought it once i found out what a chipped one could do.

will keep an eye on the new one, but tbh until its chipped so its full potential can be used then i won't be getting one i don't think

will be getting one but probably early next year.would say the bundle with the wireless controller, hard drive etc is the best buy.
games look impressive, backwards compatibility is nice but a bit limited due to a lot requiring patched to cover the lack of standard hard drive. though developers can improve the graphic performance of old games by switching on the anti aliasing in the older games. i know halo has this

i played King Kong on the 360 yesterday, and i must say its fantastic!

if you think that these are the first games out, just think what the games will be like in a few years :D

backwards compatible list http://www.xbox.com/en-US/games/backwardcompatibilitygameslist.htm

not the UK list may be a bit shorter :(

also did anyone hear chris moyles getting an xbox 360 on radio 1 this week?

Yes to Chris moyles, funny when they dropped the dummy one.

I will not be getting one when it first comes out as I think I will wait for Playstation 3 with GT5 for comparison, plus the spec of the PS looks amazing.

I used to work for Microsoft so got an Xbox for nowt when they came out, had champagne reception on London eye for the big launch for it which was good fun as Microsoft had hired practically the whole thing, couple of nights stay in the Waldorf Astoria hotel which was very opulent. Even then we knew about the next Xbox as Microsoft’s plans back in 2002 where to make what they called a home entertainment centre to replace your video, DVD player, CD player, digital TV/radio receiver and 5.1 decoder with one comprehensive unit, not really looked into what the 360 has to offer and if they met these goals.

The games do look good and will be tempted if they bring out Halo 3.

Well there's a lot of anti chipping measures in the 360 that will make it extremely difficult to chip the machine. The whole focus of the 360 was to give gamers the machine that they always wanted the xbox to be. They have set the whole thing up to behave like a chipped machine other than the fact of copying games onto the HD which imo is fair enough.

If you didn't get your orders in before a certain date, which was something like the 21st of October then you wont be getting one until the new year, some places are even saying next April before you can walk into a shop and buy over the counter.

Yes custard, both the Halo's are supported with the AA feature and are supposed to be able to run in HD mode too.

Halo 3 is being saved for the launch of the PS3, microsoft want something to take the focus off sony's machine. As far as comparing the PS3 and 360, there is very little difference and one machine is better than the other at certain things and vise versa. Most of the video footage released by sony so far has been prerendered stuff, made to look like gameplay (n)

Wasnt sony caught out lying about what their machine to do? Just because its notably worse than the 360?

I noticed that Star Wars Battlefront 2 isnt on the list of backwards compatibles, is it going to get its own release?

(a reliable source has informed me that the only games that will be backwards compatible are ones that are not planned for individual release, or less popular games that have a more hyped sequal coming out, thus you must shell out 40-45 quid to get the new one!)

PS fan boys

seriously though you cant compare the machines till there both seen in realtime. has nothing to do with the performance of the xbox and PS2 either.

anyone remember the fabled emotion engine of the PS2 which was going to be so much more powerful than the dreamcast?
when it was released months after the DC there was little in it.if both had been launched at the same time it may have been a different story for the mighty dreamcast

edit:eek:n paper the cell processors of the PS3 should be more powerfulbut its not all down to processing power plus look at my above historical example

Yeah I remember that all too well. The dreamcast was by far the best machine IMO and overlooked by most people due to the fact that everyone was jumping on the sony bandwagon (n) People will do the same again to some extent, but microsoft has a head start this time so it will rob a few of those PS fanboys back.
Ah well it's like owning a Fiat, only those that take the plunge can actually appreciate what you have got and those that are missing out, well that's their loss :D

A lot of developement houses have both machines now and from what I have heard, there really is nothing between the two machines, and I should know ;)
It will all come own to what software people like the best. With the Halo series and Project Gotham games on the 360, that seals it for me. PG 1,2&3 are by far the best racing game on any system if you want a game that really tests your gaming skills.
Just go on xbox live and try to get in the world top 10 for the cone challenges on that game and you'll understand what I'm saying.
I managed to do that on 4 of the courses and the satisfaction is unbelievable. I even have the challenges recorded. The game is priceless as far as i'm concerned as it can last a lifetime and Halo in co-op  outstanding game.

agreed but PGR is easier than the original metropolis street racer IMO
Yeah i'd say so too. When I first saw the games I thought nothing of them, just another racing game, but once you get to play them and realise the depth of the game, especially if you have "live" then they are unbeatable, well #2 is anyway  # 3 looks like the perfect game although it would have been nice to have some basic cars in there instead of all the 170mph+ cars :(

i hate sony and never buy anything from, the way they trade annoys they use ther name to selll everything and dont care if products are good or not. everyone looks and sees sony and its omg that must be best thing ever it drives me mad. not to mention the way they have to do there own thing like the crappy memory stick well known as teh worts kinda of memory. could they not have used one of the well established kinds?? nooooooo they dont want anyone dare using there stuff with anyone elses even if theres is crap...........ok rant over i could go on all day lol

oh i just remembered i did buy a sony fdd about 6 months ago. it was bust on arrival and had to go back. typical sony. sell **** under there name.

arc, what do you mean by a chipped xbox unlocking the full potential?
Chipped machines run copied games and also allows you to copy them to the hard drive and you don't need the disc, and with the new 360 that's the only advantage you would get. But I doubt it will be a machine that can be easily chipped. Doing that would also stop you from using the xbox live service and that alone makes chipping a silly thing to do IMO. I'd rather have one game that can be used forever on live than have a whole load copied onto my machine that mean nothing to me.
