hi guy im in need of your help i have a x19 with 1.3 uno turbo engine, problems are. 1 when i tighten the dissy up the camshaft wont turn is there a spacer plate missing, 2 when the car was running the top pipe between the intercooler and inlet manifold was sucking in and there is a little bit of oil in the turbo(air filter side), is the turbo on its way out. 3 it wont start with out a squirt of easy start of pertol down the intake. any body any ideas its driving me mad.:bang:

Oil could be from turbo, or have come through the breather system if you haven’t fitted a catch tank. It's easy to assume Turbo, but not my number 1 suspect.

Is the fuel pump priming (whizzing) for a few seconds when you turn the key? have heard of this bit failing causing the engine to take a lot of cranking. In which case, easy start would make it start quicker.

Could do with a picture of the cam box and I'll be able to compare.

Welcome to the forum by the way (y). Where you from?

The distributor bolts to a housing that holds the cam in. There is a gasket between the housing and cambox

sorry for the late response computer went dicky along with the x19 lol. im from silsden west yorkshire. i manage to get it started on the key, i changed the cold start sensor and the coolant temp sensor. still not right tho. its over fueling and no matter what i swap or play with it dont make it better. i have tried air flow meters, fuel pressure valve. it will sit a rev up fairly good but drive it up the road and its like its trying to pull a wall down or sumthing like that. thinking of replacing the engine now but not sure what to if any one has any idears please help

Re-check cam timing? Check position of crankshaft sensor - this has presumably been adapted to the X1/9 transmission and may be in the wrong place? Have you used the Uno Turbo flywheel - I think it has a different number of teeth to the X1/9 flywheel and therefore the X1/9 flywheel wouldn't work correctly.
