Hey all,

Following advice about a knocking noise i have looked to replace my rear engine/gearbox mount, with the part in hand from fiat i set about taking the bracket off and replacing the apparently faulty part. Below is an image of the original part and the part fiat supplied me (left) I suppose i am right in assuming the mount is an incorrect part, but also i don't think the moutn is responsible for the noise? It seems fine on inspection (unless i'm missing something vital)

The mount looks like an engine mount rather than a gearbox mount.

BUT, I'm pretty sure the bracket itself is broken. Seems to have a side missing where it bolts on to the gearbox.

I'm not 100% sure as I've never worked seriously on an 889, but if you go back to FIAT with the bracket and both mounts, they should be able to pull the pictures from ePER.

No I dont think it does, the mount seems in decent condition so I really dont know what this noise is!! Going to have a pop at replacing the Gearbox gaiter now, how do i get the front hub off, and what else do i have to remove to access the gaiter? thanks alot

For the front hub, you need to knock back the bits where the nut is indented in, put the wheel on the ground, car in gear, handbrake on, scaffold tube or breaker bar to undo the nut. Don't try it on a jack, or stands, you'll pull the car off!

Then undo the bottom strut bolts and you should be able to wiggle the drive shaft out. One of those plastic cone things will help getting the new gaitor on.

Drain the gearbox oil first, or you'll make a horrible mess!;)

Nice one boys, took the part back to fiat.. How much gearbox oil will i need to top it up? also pretty sure on the filler cap for the gearbox but will need to make sure..
