Hi I'm having a crazy issue with a 2007 Ducato 100 multijet van, will start first time in the morning and if it's been left to stand for around 30 mins or so, will start up no problem. But when the van is up to temperature if it's turned off then when attempting to re start then the starter motor seems to sound as if the battery is flat and van fails to start! Even with a jump start it will not turn starter even tried a brand new battery!! But will bump of a push even when warm! Have tried a new starter but it's exactly the same!!

Sounds like a bad earth from battery to chassis or chassis to engine block. The temperature issue possibly a bizarre symptom. Check all the heavy braided links yet can find

If it was a bad earth why would it turn over when cold or when left to cool down?? I thought if an earth was bad it would be bad constantly!?!? It's a strange issue! Thanks for the response

I had similar on my 3.0
Someone told me that Earth straps crack and when hot the cracks can open causing greater resistance in the wire !
Weather true or not I don't know but
It's 95% better after replacement

It could quite possibly be a goosed starter too,

When you add any cable like that the contact faces have to be shiny clean and good pressure contact, even temporary ones. If your jump cables have teeth press and scratch them well into the metal / battery. Else you can still be misled. Good luck

Sounds like it maybe is hydraulicing (you cannot compress liquids) check all your fluid levels may be leaking fuel into a cylinder.
Defnitley check the earth strap from gearbox to chassis seems to cause alot of problems cheap fix as well. Good luck(y)
