Technical Wkend 75TD - Gear selection problem

Hi all,
The gear selector on my car has never been great, often awkward to select a gear and it's become worse.....the car is now on 120k and apart from the gears is fine. Changing down a gear is the worst - in any gear......it wont go in to the lower gear until the car reaches a road speed that will accept it.
Has anyone had experience of this? Any suggestions to solve the problem?

does it selec gears fine when the engine is not running? if it does than i would think its time to get a new gearbox (£75) fitted at a local garage (£100). if it wont select gears ok with engine not running then your linkages may be the problem, in which case check for play in them and check for any bends because they are soft metal and easily bent. it doesnt sound like your clutch is the problem.
