Hi all, trying to figure out the purpose of a 20 pin connector bundled in with the ISO harness behind the radio in my X290 Ducato. The connector isn't connected to anything and only 3 of the pins are wired. The van isn't fitted with steering wheel controls so I am assuming the wires have no role there. Pics hopefully attached. Anyone have any idea?

No idea what that one is specifically. Elearn has images of wiring connectors if you can be bothered to trawl through it, but it may take hours.

The wiring looms are generic, to cater for various options that may or may not be fitted to individual vehicles. Look closely under the seats, behind the dash panels, the engine bay, battery compartment, behind the rear lights etc. etc. and you are guaranteed to find "unused" connectors in at least some of those places.

Thanks. Pulled the radio out today with a view to replacing -- it's a DAB with a windscreen aerial fitted by the dealer when I bought it. Reception has always been useless. Surprise, surprise there was a DAB lead from the cab roof aerial which had been lurking in there all along. Plugged it in and achieved an instant, free, head unit upgrade.
Was hoping that the mystery connector might be equally useful in some way. Reverse cam wiring would be nice...

The steering wheel controls have a 20-way connector of that shape (and it would appear only 3 active pins).

Whilst you don't have the controls, my money would be on it being a "redundant" connector for that in a common wiring loom.

(Connector shown in top right of diagram).
