I have a question about the wipers/wash system in the multipla. My is a 2001 elx jtd model and when i want to wash the back window i push the lever the water comes out and the wiper comes on automatically. To wash front windscreen i pull the lever water comes out and thats it! I have to manually select the wipers to come on to finish the job...now im wondering is this in every multipla or there is something not right in my?? Thanks

It's certainly been standard on mine, Ugly bug and a nose job.

I personally think it's a good idea as it gives you an opportunity to wet the screen (and any crud on it) before dragging the wipers across. If it's just to get rid of traffic film it becomes an automatic reflex to pull towards and up to give a single wipe.
Compared to the other idiosyncrasies Multipla's have it's not a biggie!

It really wound me up when I first got mine ('02 115), now I'm used to it and it's fine.
It does seem a bit of a poor design, even my previous wagon ('92 Toyota Lucida) had an automatic wash-wipe, with a 2-second delay between the two.
However, it's one less electronic function to go wrong, and I'm all for that (y)

Same really wound me up when i first got it, and still does it now!!!
But thats ok now that i have found out that is not just my multipla! But still not understand why fiat would think that multipla owners dont need the automatic wipers when windscreen is been washed at the front...at the end of the day the multipla is based on bravo/brava platform and theyr wipers comes on when window gets washed!!! Mistery...lol

I find it a total pain in the bum driving a vehicle where the wipers do come on with the washers... I've always thought it a daft design idea.

Just shows, different drivers different preferences.:)

The Multi is the only car I've owned where the two functions are separate. A bit wierd - I thought something was busted at first. A quick check of the manual put me straight.

If you've got a well-concentrated screenwash mix in the bottle, having the wash-only function means that you can give the windscreen a quick squirt on a frosty morning, which makes shifting thick ice a lot easier, without mullering the wiper blades.

The other thing I like about the wash wipe is the faster wipe you get when you push the stalk a bit further. Two speed flick wipe, eh? Bloody luxury, that......

I'm another who doesn't like the automatic wash/wipe because it's very annoying when you've run out of washer fluid and your wipers are automatically scraping themselves over the glass for five swipes. My 2001 ELX JTD is the same as all the others - seems this is one bit of electrics that a previous owner hasn't 'adapted' :)
