i was stopped by the Police 2day and told my tints where illegal, got 31% on there machine, how can i remove them? i've got 24hrs to do so! bloody coppers!

Peel the tint off very gently, trying to pull it at a right angle to the glass. If you do it too quickly it leaves loads of glue behind on the glass.
There will be glue on the glass when you've got it off, use a Vinegar based window cleaner to get this off (it dissolves the glue) - Windolene used to make one - it will say on the bottle "Vinegar based".

Oh forgot, you could try heating the film up inside with a hairdryer first to soften the glue, I didn't, but I did mine on a sunny day. DON'T use a heat gun, it's too hot and will melt the film and make a mess.

thanks for the advice, i think i'll have 2 try the hair dryer trick as i can see the edge of the film (if it is film?) i did'nt fit it , are there other methods of tinting windows?

There are, but it will be film
Try to be gentle and it will be less likely to rip, still doubt you will be able to get it off in one piece
Also, remember you only need to remove it from the front doors, rear sides and back window can be as tinted as you want.

Go scrap yard and replace the two front side windows. (£30 for both) Take it to the MOT or Police Station, get it checked. Then refit your original windows with tints.

Yes theyre illegal but surely u knew that when you had them done!
I did. Got pulled - took the wrap as I knew the risk. Got a producer and had to remove them. Did as above and replaced the front windows with standard glass.
Got MOT stamp and produced at kop shop. Took the risk once more and put the tints back in.

no wimmy , i bought the car with them on already, was'nt too ure of the law at the time, and this mot stamp u say.... the officer did say that but said most mot stations would'nt have a light tester machine.. so i'd have to go back to him.. ????????

you could use small amounts of white spirits or isopropyl alcohol (better) to remove any glue left behind - dab some on a cloth and rub. Isopropyl can be got in a chemists.. the glue is difficult to remove otherwise.

Anon - no they dont have light tester machines. I had to get it stamped to say my tints had been removed. I had plain glass in so they stamped it. Took the producer to the plod shop and then changed my windows back

i live in the new brighton area.. where abouts are u?
the tints are now removed! used a hair drier, sticker/glue remover, wire wool, and elbow grease.... came off ok took about 90 mins to complete... but the my pup has destroyed my producer!!! can u belive it right in the space i should get it stamped by the mot station!! its half chewed! he must of smelt the bacon
