Hers we go, see if anyones any thoughts on this one;

Engine would not start after parked up overnight. needed squirt of Easy Start to have it fire up. After that drove sweet as a nut & started instant after.

Same thing next day, needed a squirt to fire-then OK after.

Had a mobile diesel expert out to take a look. Started 1st time for him :bang: He linked an array of tubes and pipes up and declared injectors pressures testing OK Glow plugs OK and there were no fault codes.(y) So nothing he can do.

Today parked up at 0200, had my son crank it over in the morning at 0700, it fired up first time(y) I wakes up, goes out to start at 1530...dead again needing a squirt to fire :bang: but perfect after???

I have a good new 90 AH battery...starter Motor replaced 3 months ago...mobile Mechanic lives miles away in middle of nowhere and says he can only trace while the fault is present...I have to take it to him and leave it overnight...totally impractical unless as last resort.

Any thoughts be much appreciated!

General consensus in previous thread that its the glow plugs. Mobile mechanic was adamant these are OK, that there should have been a fault code brought up and there were none? Could the glow plugs be iffy without bringing up a fault code?

One thing, though I am sure must be unrelated is that my lad replaced several blown dash warning lights just before this problem appeared? :confused:

I would say def glow plug related, they could be weak and not bring up any code. Worth a shot, its all process of elimmenation and that would be a good place to start.

Yes, all 4 glow plugs were dead on a hilux that I had, showed no fault code. Changed them and it was back to normal.

I have noticed with my 2.0JTD SX that it starts much more easily in cold weather if I heat the glowplugs twice, and then as soon as it's turning over, press the accelerator part-way down, once, very briefly.

Could maybe be a small leak in the fuel supply low pressure delivery side, allowing fuel to drain back to the tank? Would stop it starting at cranking speed?

Hopefully its now sorted itself, with the warmer days it has started without the need for "Easy Start" squirted down its throat. We shall see when I next start it...which might not be for a few days now since I am confined to bed with a chest infection... favourite is lazy glow plugs, with a lazy starter motor coming close behind-although nearly new it was a cheap n cheerful recon.

Well it started first crank after 2 days laid up (Temp was 8 degrees) and had started OK the days previous when a little warmer . Hopefully that rules out fuel falling back into tank, and "probability" its not a lazy starter motor since its almost "new", so it looks like new glow plugs needed.:slayer: Might wait till it fails again if the temperatures plumet(y)
