As some of you know, a couple of weeks back i bought a 99'T 20vt Fiat Coupe with just 57k miles, a FSH and a few slight modifications in need of slight TLC. After being in a serveral minds wether to sell or fix, i decided to keep it. Especically when low millers are hard to come across. Well after buying all the required parts needed to get the car back to top condition i was awoken yesterday morning, Sunday with a phone call from my neighbour informing me that my Coupe was covered in some sort of an acidic substance, that im guessing is paint stripper with one of my tyres slashed. As you can guess i was totally shocked and pissed off, still am. Police were informed, and insurance notified and was picked up today and took to Parks Motor Group Fiat Dealership & Body Shop in East Kilbride. So i now await conformation on whats to happen to the car.

Gutted mate, hopefully the culprits will be caught but nowadays seems the chances are almost non existant of anyone ever being caught for anything like that . There's only one word to describe people who get off on wrecking folks cars like this, that's SCUM:tosser:

Thanks man. Out of curiosity if it were to be written of, any idea what kind of value i should expect? I gave Solo Italia, the Fiat Coupe specalist in Oxford a phone earlier today and they said, with the spec and milleage they would of retailed mines at £4-£4500. I paid £2300. Book is £2500-£3000. And the prices vary somewhat on ones advertised.

absolutley gutted for you mate! :( hope they can find the jealous evil scumbags that did it, pouring the same acidic substance in their eyes would by my preffered method of punishment if they were caught.

look up autotrader, pistonheads etc and try to find 2 or three similar cars to get a value for the insurers should they decide to write it off.print them off if possible and make sure you show them all the history etc to show the car was in top nick. that should help get a better offer from the insurers should the worst happen, remember and only accept any offer when you are happy with it and feel its reasonable.

good luck mate, keep us informed what happens, hopefully the car will live on and the scumbags caught.

Thanks for the support guys. Hopefully the insurance will pay out, and if its written of then i may just buy it back.

Jeezo, can't believe the jealous scum that do this kind of stuff to any car let alone a gorgeous Fiat Coupe, boils my blood so it does :furious3:

Worst I've had to contend with are one or two scrapes and a dent or 2 from the car park, though to me they stand out horribly...just inconsiderate idiots throwing their doors open or hitting it with shopping :(

Anyway, hope it isn't written off and the insurance people sort it out for you. If it's just the paint, it may well be fine just for a full respray.

:tosser: some ppl have no concience, i hope the police catch the scum that did it.

was thinking you should o this before i saw this post, buy it back and strip it, easily make £400 for the engine alone ;)

er.... someone obviously doesnt like you, if it was kids, then they would have just keyed it then slashed your tyres but acidic substance is malice at its highest! :(

sorry to hear about it though and hope the police get the tw@ts that did it!!

wow thats insane, pissed anyone off lately?
Or maybe its just the new thing that kids find "fun"?

Hope your insurance wont take your NCB? some give protected NCB on vandalism?

Thanks guys. I have no idea who or why they would of done it. I got a phonecall from Parks today, and they said the estimated repair costs is £4210, so i'll just await to see what my insurance say.

jeezus thats a hella expesive garage :D even replacing every single panel and repainting them and repainting them again just for fun wouldnt cost you more than 2k :D

Thats Parks Body Shop in East Kilbride. Discovered it was an acidic substance like Paint stripper or Brake Fluid that was used-its went right through to the bare metal.

wow thats expensive....look else where even put up an advertisement saying you need the job done..........if you have a garage or a loan of one....why not respray it yourself? also my dad is mates...with some 1 who sprays cars prof....miby i could get you a better price...ill lie make out your a mate......let me kno if you want me to ask the guy?

The cars been deemed a write off. Will try and negotiate buying it back.
