why is my car not selling?

i have put my 59 reg fiat 500 sport (diesel) on autotrader for £7,500. it has 32.5k mile and is in excellent condition.

i haven't had one phone call yet - why is it not selling? should i reduce the price or hold out and see what happens?

Its a buyer market, and people who do low mileage know that the Diesel 500's are issues, so your buyer is probably going to be someone who doesn't mind doing high mileage in a small car - not many people!

It all depends upon how desperate you are to sell the car as to if you should drop the price or not.

it took a few days before i ever got a phone call about my Astra when I sold it. ended up P/X it anyway

I've been scouting autotrader for a little 500 1.3 multijet and have seen your, it's a very nice little car and I think you've priced it pretty competitively, there are a few thing though, You're a private seller priced the same as all the dealers who will be offering waranties and finance, important factors when not many people these days carry around £7500 in cash to buy a new car. The car is white like every other fiat 500 under the sun it's boring and I would want a better colour as there are some similar mileage but slightly older cars for less money in red.
Your description could be a bit better and you're 172 miles away which is way out of my traveling distance if you're in a poor location then you will struggle to sell it

I don't think I am in a bad location. I am easily accessible from north manchester/lancashire near a motorway junction.

I might need to reduce my price. when I put it on a couple of weeks ago the traders prices were all over £8.5k so i thought i was doing the right thing putting £1k less. There is a dealer selling one for the same price as mine but is has over 60k mile on it.

I bought white specifically for the re-sale as it's the most popular colour!!

I am not desperate to sell but my husband bought a van for work so his car is sitting idle so i thought i would get rid of mine and use his spare one. We are thinking of buying a new car after xmas so i could always trade it in if it doesn't sell.

I will re-do my advert as well as i just went with the stuff that autotrader automatically filled in.

TBH sounds like your in a fairly good situation then as they seem to have reasonable trade in values, so if worst comes to the worst this might be the route to take.
