Jealous!

I went to pick up my flywheel on the way through last night (i should have phone him) but he was out so i'm gonna have to wait another 2wks for it now :(

How long did your techniclutch take by the way?

My paypal payment clearered a few days ago so it cant be far away?

Does it look 'heavy duty' to you? I'm a little concerned its a standard pressure plate painted red looking at the pics!??

I did ask him if it would take 200bhp and his response was ''yes'' so fingers crossed i guess!

How long before they're both fitted by the way?

Thanks

Tom

doh, when i had my flywheel done on my old ut it cost me £150. will need another doing soon too

Hi tom your clutch will be on the way, i must say on close inspection they look good, twin springs, and goldy copper friction material like i've seen in other performance high power clutches, it says valeo on it so he maybe he relighns them with the heavy duty organic material, read his feedback way back seems he does a good job, i have a friend you has one in his mk1 rs 2000 zvh 200bhp plus, and he rates them, and has fitted a few with no complaints also they have risen in price, is there a lot of difference in the punto gt and mk2 ie as there a lot more exspensive, anyway when i fitted the engine and box a while back i had the choice of 2 used clutches and fitted the better looking one both looked reuseable (big mistake) as soon as the turbo spins SLLLLLIIPP!!!! all that effort and fuucked up on the clutch ive learn't a lesson and will be fitting at my mates garage over the festive, bed it in for a few weeks then i aquired a turbosmart boost controller and turn it up a little bit 0.9 ish, are you still going with the 50% flywheel reduction in your rallyslag! are you using the mk1 or mk2 fly Ant!

Its just arrived! My mum just phoned to say she's recieved it!

I think we can get near 4kg with it to be honest as we're 'going in' on the opposite side to the contact area. The metal is much thicker there and i think there is an easy kilo to be had off. There were a couple of other small places to nick a bit off, one being on the rim, clutch side just by the ring gear. Its a not a lot of metal but as its right on the perimeter it will make a difference i hope.

I did hope the spings on the clutch cover were going to look beffy, that would have given me more confidence. The gt clutches are a lot more, i'm not sure why either as the 215 OE clutch they have is tough!

I'm using a mk1 flywheel. I made that decision when mr clutch emailed me back '200bhp would be fine' and the 190mm fwheel is a bit lighter so thought 'why not'!

Avanti charge £150, did they supply yours?

Tom

Hey bud,
If i posted it off, how much would your mate do mine for?

Exactly the same level of skim as yours.

Cheers,
Dragyth

The flywheel is the on off my spare engine as i bought 2 cars and currently running the 90 (h) engine and box, and its taken me 3 months to sort the fly out, and had to repair and paint his m5 bumpers as a deal, if you turn it over you can see where he has cleaned it up but not drasticly and removed loads off the back, any more and he recommends balancing the crank and the rest, i will ask if he fancies doing more, but is ultra busy he does all the engineering for stratstones (ferrari, porsche, aston martin, and more) and makes a bomb, i would estimate over a £100, but did get a quote from an engineering company round the corner and he said £80 so try a guy near you, any good engineer could sort, sounds like you cant wait to rev your R1 tom RRINGGG!! RRINGGG!! Ant!

As i haven't collected mine i dont actually know what its costing but it wont be much.

I'll give him a bell on lunch tomorrow and see if he's done it, which i expect he has by now.

If so i'll get you a price mate, certainly wouldn't be a problem he's sound.

Tom

Slight change of plans, i'm not going to ring him as i cant get back until the 23rd to collect it/ask him to do more here and there etc...

I'd prefer not to get him out of the workshop and into his house to answer the phone when there's no hurry.. Plus i think i'll get a better price talking to him in person.

I hope thats ok, i dont think you're in a hurry..?

My catch tank arrived this morning, its like Christmas!! lol
