Hi all,

I know there's been loads of dicussion about uprated clutches to handle the ecu rempas but does anyone actually have one?

I have had the car mapped by Angel Tuning and have since had a new Valeo Clutch fitted. Anyway, this is slipping again (after about 15k at most)

Was just wondering who, if anyone has an uprated clutch, where they got it and how much it cost??

Thanks

Stu

I've got one in a 2.4JTD, same Valeo clutch but it has stronger fingers or something. I got it from a company off ebay called CG Clutches (based in Yorkshire)...was actually cheaper than buying a regular Valeo clutch lol and it's doing a top job, bare in mind I'll be putting out buckets more torque than you too.

You should have a look for them and see if they do one for the 1.9

Nice one, have a had a look at their website and they do do one for the 1.9 jtd!

I think mine is kicking out way more torque than yours tho ;) only kidding!!

Anyones else got anything similar?

Stu

Scotty's your man for knowledge of uprated 1.9 clutches, his derv is also remapped to the hilt (but mine is faster ;)). Sure he'll be along soon.

Hey Stu,

I did shed loads of research into this when I had my bravo but never went for it.

I e-mailed Scotty the reply I got from the company and can do the same but here is the main bits...

"Good afternoon,

I have been given your details from a Fiat Owners Forum as a lead into
finding an uprated clutch for my Fiat Bravo 105JTD.

The car is currently running 219Nm of Torque @ 2548rpm & 105.1Hp @
4124rpm @ the wheels / 130Hp @ the fly Wheel.

This has been reduced due to clutch judder from approx 250Nm Torque &
150Hp @ the fly wheel.

I am ideally looking for a clutch that can handle around 170Hp &
260/170Nm Torque approx.... The custom re-map hasn't been tested due
to current clutch being pants!!"

"Hi Thomas,

Thank you for your enquiry.

We can offer you one of our Fast Road three part clutch units for £155
including VAT and delivery. This particular clutch would easily cope with
your power ratings and remain nice to drive with. The only thing I would say
is that if you were using the vehicle on a track day and repeatedly
launching it off the line the organic friction material could become too
hot.

Regards,

John."

I then asked him about warrenty and got....

"all I can say as far at the warranty goes- if you come across any problems
then give us a call and we will reason it out by either providing you with a
new clutch or an even stronger one.

Kind regards,

John.
P.S. If you require any technical assistance upon clutches for your forum
then we are always here to assist."

he also said "The official book time for fitting is 7.9 hours (our fitting centre would
charge £250 for fitting)."

The company web addy is www.techniclutch.com but ur better off calling or e-mailing as they don't update their website much!

Ask Scotty tho how he's finding it as they do a

"Ceremetallic paddle units are extremely tough and will often wear the
flywheel down before the friction material, further they are not prone to
heat problems."

also.

Hope all this helps a little

a few years ago now i went to helix with a new std valeo clutch who uprated it to cope with up to 180bhp and 250lbs torque. it's been fine. easily copes with the 160hp and 240lbs torques my bravo gives out. don't know if helix are still going? if i wanted an uprated clutch now i would go along the route of getting one from the new bravo or alfa as they can take a bit more punishment than the flimsy std bravo unit. the new bravo 150hp jtd or alfa 147 jtd as they are essentially the same 1910cc diesel engine albeit 16v. mind you may need the flywheel as well if that's different. maybe put the 6 speed gearbox in at the same time.
Pete.
