Technical Whistling Noise once going over 50-60 MPH

Hi All,


I have recently purchase an 09 Fiat Bravo 1.4.


I've come across an issue since purchasing the car, when driving above 50mph I start to hear a loud whistling noise which I believed was possibly the break pads being a bit worn.


The noise is continuous at this speed and only breaking seems to stop the noise from happening, I travel to work everyday down a motorway so this will continuously happen for a good 20 minutes.


Yesterday I took the car to my local garage who said that all four break pads were 3/4 worn so I had them removed and they advised this would solve the issue but after taking it out, still get the issue and I can't get to the bottom of what could be causing this.


Has anyone come across this before and had a solution to the issue?

Sounds like a wind noise issue to me. Check all your door seals and those around the windscreen, scuttle and bonnet...

You haven't the glass sunroof have you by chance

If it disappears under braking it could be warped discs.

Hi mate,

I had the same issue only when breaking the sound would stop,

Get your brake disc looked at might need changing
I had mine rear changed from a garage few months back cost me £100.

No more sound too.
