The HU has a grey antenna wire, that switch on 12v when the stereo is on
The Wiring diagram i have for the punto says its also joined to the subwoofer if present

But before i go ripping up carpets at stuff - does anybody know where it actually goes?
i dont think it goes to the ariel on the roof, dont ever recall seeing that

Ziggy,

According to Haynes the grey wire does connect to the Aerial and the subwoofer. But when removing my HU there wasn't a grey wire there. Had to add a wire myself from the boot to the right pin in the HU (also see my guide about fitting factory subwoofer).

Did you check if your HU has a grey wire? Just take it out and flip it over on the dashboard, check connector A (The empty place with the arrow in picture below).

Hope this helps you!

Yes its there :)
I double checked it goes to 11.82v with the stereo on and then back to 0 with stereo off
Its defo grey too!

it doesn't connect to the ariel - as its only got 1 thick black wire to it.....

So im confused - where the f.... does it go?

Why do i feel like the interior is coming out?

Here in Holland, left-hand driven vehicles, the wire runs from the HU to the right underneath the glovebox, there is an connector, from the connector to the back till the front seats, then underneath the front seats to the left of the car, and from the left to the boot.

Don't know if this is the same in LHD vehicles. You could check where the connector is, remove the black plug underneath the glovebox and fold away the carpet. You should find a big connector where the gray wire from the HU plugs in and from there it runs to the boot (not sure if it runs underneath the front seats like here in RHD vehicles).

Could make a drawing / picture if not clear (just let me know)!

That does make sense

So assuming it has to be reversed for the sake of us in the RHD people

it'd go to the left of the car under our glove box - all the way down the left hand side (no point swapping to swap back - waste of cable) all the way into the boot

so i've gotta find it from where i think it stop in the left hand side of the sill or under the seats.... looks like interior up... (goes to scrappies so i can rip that 1 out)

Check out the connector underneath the glovebox first! Under the glovebox you'll find a black plug, take that out and fold away the carpet a bit. Found a picture on the forum to make myself a bit more clear:

Remove the plug cirkled in red (and the door sill), then fold away the carpet under the red arrow. As i'm right you should find the connector there.

Maybe the grey wire in your car does only run from the HU to the connector? Check that out first so that you don't have to take all the wires apart.

Edit:
According to eLearn this connector should be on the drivers side of RHD vehicles (if im right). So also take a look under the fusebox for this connector!!

Well i was very very lucky

The car i pulled another sub from was still there (JUST!)
he was ripping the engine out ready for it be loaded shortly onto his wagon to be scrapped for good!

Anyway
i found the antenna wire i had cut previosuly - followed that bugger back down cutting lots and lots and lots of tape and pulling the wire through and while you kind people were posting here i was down ther

Anyway - Yup your all correct
The wire goes to the Big multi-pin connector there

So - pop the connector apart - alittle wiggle and a push with the plier and i now have 1x cable+pin that i can use :)

So i pulled my cars side apart (again.....)

Oh lookie see :)
I have a grey wire down the connector but not after that....

So im sorted :D

Ziggy

Edit:: dam i forgot the photo's
Connector B.jpg
And yup :)
There are 2 thin wires to the left and then the grey
Which has no partner on the other side
Connector A.jpg

So fiat must make looms in the car in multiples
Ie a dash loom
A Body loom
an engine loom
An Engine bay loom etc etc

Must be better that way - anyway!

Hi Ziggy122 sorry about bringing up an old thread but I could do with some help and I think your picture might be the answer. That connector with all the different wires, is that where the cable connects for all the speakers?

Thanks
Russ
