Is it ok to use a normal wax like bilt hamber auto balm to seal wheels after a thorough clean and clay? Or is it better to buy a real wheel sealant like poorboys?

Its fine to use normal wax/sealents, I think the so called wheel waxes are not much different. Although it may be easier to apply a liquid wax, Like Blackfire All Metal Sealent.
not really sure auto balm will be that brilliant, but products such as collinite and FK1000 are brilliant.
Ive just recently switched to planet polish wheel seal and shine though, which puts both of the pre mentioned products to shame in my opinion

well for the lazy team it is i.e my parents cars the whole car, recently re done the punto in Full Fk1000 lights everything ouside apart from windows in car lack sealent kit and then a layer of BOS
