Technical What is this ? Found under engine.

I have a Ducato 3.0 2009 based motorhome.
I found this under the engine but I have no idea where it goes.
Any help appreciated.

Hi

Under the scuttle is the EGR solenoid valve. I'm pretty sure the "thing" is a foam air filter that push fits onto one of the three ports on this valve. The other two ports have small rubber hoses. Not very critical, but you should be able to push it back
