hi there
have heard on other forums that wd40 is great on exterior plastic on cars- such as bumpers/wing mirrors
anyone here use it?
if not what do you use?

Chemical Guys New look trim gel - doesn't get any better.

yeah i did know that but thanks for the science lesson peter!!(y)(y)

but as last post said it has loads more uses and on my last car- smart roadster which has quite a lot of plastic trim the previous owner had used wd40 but i hadnt yet tried it.
most of the back to black range by different companies tend to run in the rain and on a black car that can leave 'dripping' type marks on the paintwork where the product has been washed off the plastic.

any other tips- have heard that gels are pretty good.:rolleyes:

In the early days, I used (black) shoe cream for (black) trim....!

I don't know what it is, but WD40 is sold almost everywhere overhere for only a small amount of money....supermarkets, small grocery shops, you name it....they must produce this stuff in HUGE quantities...I don't know....

Apparently, Peanut oil can be good if you dont fancy using peanut butter and its less than £1 a bottle from Tescos.

If you want a more conventional off the shelf car product though, Ive used AG Bumper Care which is good - about £5.99 a bottle from Hafords.

wd40 works, but it doesnt last very long. you need something thicker that wont dry or wash off so easily. there are thousnads of suitable products you can use, even the left over fat from your sunday lunch (but it attracts flies).

I did use a coat of Simoniz back to black on our Fiat last Thursday, encountered lots of really HEAVY rain today, it is still on....!!
Remember after using back to Black, to rub it in with a (terry) cloth or towel, and use several layers the first time when you use it!

Which Simoniz Back to Black would you recommend?

I believe there's only one Simoniz Back to Black...
Simoniz Back to Black , 500ml spray can, part nr.SIM0310TR.
Renews ALL colours of plastic bumpers, spoilers and trim to their original colour and shine. Regular use protects against weathering.
works instantly-spray onto surface and wipe over using a clean, dry cloth.
