WAY O.T. outlook express info needed

Just noticed in my mail that any attachment sent to me is sort of greyed out so i can't view it.?
This has happened before and i've just changed the security setting in the properties but this time the option isn't there to change??
Anyone got any ideas?

untick the do not allow attachments to be opened that might be a virus etc button

I've got restricted zone and internet zone but nothing else under the heading security.
It's there but greyed out and un checkable?

Do you use hotmail and receive it through your outlook by chance??

If so hotmail does not allow some attachments through - it classes them as a risk and just removes them regardless of whether u want it or not.

Unfortuntely i cant remember which files it does this too, but there are a few. I had the same thing when somebody tried to send me photographs once.

No Hotmail comeing through on this account but everything else is fine just can't get access to the attachments
Would changing up to Outlook instead of Outlook Express help do you think??

1. Click Start->Run, type "regedit" (without quotations) in the Open
box and click OK.

2. Browse to this registry key:



3. From the right pane, search for a value named BlockExeAttachments.

4. If you find the BlockExeAttachments value, right click it and choose
Modify and delete the number in the Value data box.

5. Restart Outlook Express and try again.

You don't have this option?

And if it's greyed out then that's down to the polocies on the domain.

Ian yes it's greyed out and can't be accessed i've tried everything i can think of it turns out it's something to do with a Windows update that has changed Outlook and Outlook Express so that no attachments with potential viruses can be downloaded and infect your computer.
That's all very good if your a dick and open everything that comes through the mail but i can't even open a jpg pic my brother has sent me now.
If i ever get the chance to meet with some of the arse holes that work for Microsoft i'm going to go fecking mental at them. (sorry i'm getting a little annoyed)
i just want it to work the way it did is that too much to ask?

Rab mate,

You need to be an "Administrator" or logged on as one to enable that option. Just make sure you are and not some sort of "Power user".

Not really much more I can suggest...

I am logged in as an Administrator but still can't sort this,
As i said earlier it's some sort of automatic download i got from Microsoft .
I thought i'd checked them all before i installed them but it slipped through, so you might be hearing a lot more about this problem from others fairly soon.
