Hello,

I recently changed my gearbox oil and found that it was full of water. From reading this forum, I know it's caused by the drain pipe from the bottom of the screen so I have fixed this and installed new oil. However, the selection on 2nd and 3rd is really crunchy so I think the synchro rings need replacing. Questions: is this possible without removing the gearbox, can anyone recommend a specialist that can do this in the SE, can thinner oil help?

Thanks,
Rich

You dont say if the gear box was ok prior to the oil change. If it was you need to make sure the correct grade of gear oil was put back in. The wrong gear oil will play havoc with gear changes making them very harsh. If it was acting up before hand you could well be looking at a fairly large bill for a recon of your box.

Check the oil First
