Hi Guys, Just got my car back, dropped it off this morning.
Got a Bravo 1.6 Trofeo 2000, 52K
Got charged £350 for a Full service and had my Cam belt done whilst i was there, also he fixed the bonnet pin not springing back into place, so was a pain to get the bonnet closed.

Service was £76
Oil Filter £5.60
Oil was £30
Air filter was £8.50
Spark plugs were 11.30
Cam belt Kit was £92 (he mentioned that this was expensive)
Labour for 2 Hours 15 Mins was £81.70

All plus Vat at 15%

I've read people have paid £130 for Service and £130 for Cam Belt change.
So was kinda expecting a bill of around £260ish.
Not been a good couple of months, exhaust went last month (£250) Tax (£200)
and now this (£350)

it does seem alot.

******** did the oil cost £30, we pay about £1.40 a litre for 'Q8' semi synthetic bmw spec 10w40 oil, which is more money than just the standard 10w40 semi synth, standard cheapo 10w40 semi synth is about 99p a litre.

cambelt kit for your car is £62 from euro car parts.

It does depend on where you live, and the standard of the bloke working on it, I know my trusted garage is more expensive than a fast fit center but he wont **** things up and lie about it later for example and that suits me fine. That seems a reasonable price, if it was done to a good standard by a good garage/mechanic you can sleep at night and trust your car, cambelts arent annual anyway so its not like the same bill is coming around again anytime soon. £30 for oil is pushing it a bit though!

possibly, though it appears they get their parts from halfrauds! and charging you for a "service" as well as the oil/filter which i thought were part of the service...

As said, having someone you can trust is worth paying extra for. labour rate seems perfectly acceptable. so in summary, no you haven't been ripped off, but you probably could of found cheaper.

I wish I could get prices that low, you'd be paying double that round here. Don't get me started on Surrey Dealer prices. Independents are cheaper but you seem to be getting a bargain to me.

£350? Expensive? Try £600 for service and cambelt change on a Stilo JTD. By the way that's not expensive considering it was done at a main dealer and included a water pump. Everything is relative. If a company overcharged continuously then word would get out and they would loose business.

Got my timing belt done under fiatcare for £170 on my stilo jtd around 10 months ago, offer might not be on any more though.
