Hi All,

I was listening to my USB & CD at various times in my car while cruising today and realised that the volume keeps dropping and going back up every now and then. Is there a safety option on it? Maybe so the speakers dont blow when its very loud? Is this something that can be stopped?

Please help as this is very annoying...

Thanks in advance.

Sounds like you may have the speed sensitive option activated.

It's designed to increase volume slightly when the car goes over a certain speed to cancel out excess road noise at higher speeds and drops back down to the original volume when you slow down again.

If I remember right I think it increases by +2 not sure what speed it was at either.

Should be explained in the manual and can be turned off if needed.

Thanks but that is already OFF. It happens at high volumes. It normally happens when the bass hits. I am thinking: 1) the speakers are blown 2) There is a safety feature that drops bass if its too loud so it doesnt blow the speaker.. My friend noticed it then I did... It happens a lot.

I noticed the same thing on mine yesterday, it was at Vol 5 and kept goin to 4 then to 5 again randomly.

Do you have anti-clipping enabled?

Anti clipping??? Never heard of that before?

My volume bar doesnt go down.. well I dont see anything on the screen of the cd player its just i can hear the volume drop... its like radio reception dropping and you loose volume... its VERY annoying.

I always have my trebble at full and bass at +2. I have standard speakers...

I hope someone knows whats wrong?

My radio volume does the same. Have a 08 Bravo.

It's not traffic programs - I have tested with traffic disabled, although I usually have it on. Speed volume adjustment is off. It can happen when sat in a traffic jam.

To be honest the above post came to my attention as its Radio 1 thats on most of the time, not sure if its just the BBc FM stations. The volume will jump by 4 or 5 points. If I press OK on the steering wheel controls it goes back to normal.

It seems to be worse than ever. Car is in for its 1 yr service this week, so have asked dealer to investigate. But they have already looked once before and couldnt get it sorted.
