I'm getting used to my new 500 TA, and I was experimenting with voice dialling contacts on my paired iPhone 3GS.

I've found that any contacts that have more than one telephone number within them don't work.

I.e. if I call out the name of a contact with just one number, it asks to confirm the name and works perfectly. If I call out the name of a contact with more than one number, it pauses for a second, then just drops back straight to the radio/media player as if it got confused and crashed out. Now looking at the guide, what it should do is list the various types of numbers that are against that contact (like Home, work, mobile etc) and you can then specify this, or that you can specify this as you call out the contact eg "Call Clare (at/on) Home". But this seems not to work.

Has anyone seen the same issues? I'm guessing the car should be on B&M 5.5 as it's a newly built car, but I'm wondering if it's worth doing an update to 5.5 incase there's something a bit screwy?

There's no benefit in updating to 5.5 if you are already on 5.5. Also it's worth noting that if you update to a particular version you can't go backwards.
Voice dialling isn't 100% and it can be hard to get it working if you have someone in the car particularly when they start laughing when you can't get it to work.:)
My iphone 3GS is on a detactable hard case that's stuck to the dash. You can guess what I do when I have to make that call.

I did word that wrong, I didn't mean update - but thought that a 'reinstall' might help.

I have found the voice commands work really well for the media player ('play next' etc) and it's recognising my voice well, but it's the fact it crashes out only on those contacts with more than one phone number that's slightly irritating. I guess it's a novelty, as I can use the menu and the multi function display to select these contacts, then pick out the number I want without issue.

I would certainly be interested to see if anyone else has a similar issue..

I thought a bit more about my posting yesterday and if would do not harm to update the B&M to 5.5.
I did the update this morning.
50 mg download.
Unzip the files onto a formatted USB key (I used a 1mg one) making sure that there's no group name.
Disconnect the battery for 10 minutes.
Re-connect.
Pop the USB key into the slot.
Turn on the ignition.
Speedometer will say it's updating.
Takes a few minutes.
When finished it will prompt to remove the USB key.
Turn off & then on again.
Re-sync your phone again and it will prompt if you wish to download the contacts.
Test to see if the problem is still there.

I have found it easier to just give a person different titles, eg. Tony_Home * Tony_Work * etc. and allocate the different numbers to each title.

Of course, this will only make sense if I have understood the question correctly, otherwise just ignore me, lol.
