The car is an '08 1.4 90hp with 50k miles.
None of my centre console lights for my fan controls are working. It's the standard fan not climate control. Am I right in thinking I have to pull the glove box to get to the fuse? I found the guide for the light replacement but it looks like a pain in the behind to to check the fuse.
I have a tick-tick-ticking coming from my ventilation fan. Is this a common failure? Is it something that can be fixed/ lubed/ cleaned? Is it a pain to remove and diagnose?
There's a kind of low volume whirring/ turbine type noise is how I would describe it from the engine. You can hear light rattle for a second or two on start up and then it quietens immediately.
The pitch of the whirring increases with revs but the volume stays the same. You can hear it at low speeds when the engine is under load; in traffic with the windows down or when driving down a narrow street with the noise reflecting back. You can barely hear it if the engine isn't under load. In general, there's also a ticking type noise maybe a pulley bearing chattering or something like that.
The noise changes very little with the A/C on or off. I do notice that the A/C probably needs gassing- it's not the coldest. Maybe the noises are ever so slightly more audible with the A/C on. I know the whirring and the ticking noises are likely related. The car is driving fine otherwise. I had the timing belt changed recently and the noise was the same before and after. Unfortunately, I forgot to mention them to the last mechanic before he did the job.
There's also a clack noise from high up in the right rear suspension. I know there was a recall for the rear body welds but I think I'll need to get this looked at professionally.
Any thoughts or comments appreciated. There aren't many specialists in my area so I'd like to be as educated as possible before giving my car to someone who isn't likely to have handled one. Thanks folks
