Hi all,

Looks like the starter is dead on my '81 Spider 2000 (50th anniversary model), so unfortunately the time has come to sell it off :(

I put the car up for sale on Craigslist, didn't list a price as I don't know how it should be valued. Let me give you a brief list of the good & bad:

The Good:

Engine runs well, transmission shifts well, most electrics work, new battery, new distributor, new fuel tank, fuel pump, & fuel filter

The Bad:

Starter apparently dead, some rust on body, some electrics need replacing, speakers need replacing, it's a bit dirty and could use a good cleaning, had a small exhaust leak type smell when it was running (I suspect this was a loose spark plug, I made an earlier posting about this if you need a reference point)

...and the odo reads about 83k, though no idea if those are original miles.

Anyone think $1500 is asking too much? I paid $2000 for it in November and have had offers as low as $200 and $300, which seem silly considering that it's a classic and was running about a month ago. I also just spent $100 on a new battery.

I'd like at least $1,000 for it. Unfortunately, as we all know, there's no blue book value on these, so it's pretty much anyone's guess.

Thanks for any help you can offer.

Depending on the rust, I would think $1500 is a very reasonable place to start. I have seen really good examples of 2000's listed for as high as $5K with very few running examples below $1500. I forgot to look at where you were before I started this rant :bang: so forgive me if the SE US data is useless to you.
