Hi all,
Looks like the starter is dead on my '81 Spider 2000 (50th anniversary model), so unfortunately the time has come to sell it off
I put the car up for sale on Craigslist, didn't list a price as I don't know how it should be valued. Let me give you a brief list of the good & bad:
The Good:
Engine runs well, transmission shifts well, most electrics work, new battery, new distributor, new fuel tank, fuel pump, & fuel filter
The Bad:
Starter apparently dead, some rust on body, some electrics need replacing, speakers need replacing, it's a bit dirty and could use a good cleaning, had a small exhaust leak type smell when it was running (I suspect this was a loose spark plug, I made an earlier posting about this if you need a reference point)
...and the odo reads about 83k, though no idea if those are original miles.
Anyone think $1500 is asking too much? I paid $2000 for it in November and have had offers as low as $200 and $300, which seem silly considering that it's a classic and was running about a month ago. I also just spent $100 on a new battery.
I'd like at least $1,000 for it. Unfortunately, as we all know, there's no blue book value on these, so it's pretty much anyone's guess.
Thanks for any help you can offer.
