Hello! I am a newbie and although I looked through your site, I was not sure where exactly to ask my question - so if this is in the wrong area, then please forgive me.

Actually, my husband has asked me to do this as he is even worse on forums:eek:

Right then - could anyone give an idea of the possible worth of this...

Fiat 128L estate 1300 3-door 1979, a dark red sort of colour (as opposed to a bright red!)

1 lady owner (my mother-in -law actually), genuine 20,669 mileage.

Fully Zeibarted before delivery.

It has always been garaged - and since 1996 it has sat in the garage and has not been touched in any way ...

Many thanks for any help

Delilah X

Its all down to condition. Being a garage car then it should be good. Original interior trim in good condition will add value and that includes its radio. Would imagine for 1979 it would be just a radio with no FM tuner. Pricing for such cars can range depending on area and condition so look for a minimum of 2000 up to about 5000. Again its all condition based and service records. However its price now will only rise with age as its beyond the line of old car and into classic. Love some photos.

Just had a look on the web and there is a 90,000 mileage excellent condition one for sale in Cumbria for £3000. These cars are getting very rare now, most vanished to Eastern Europe and Russia in the early 80's as they were similar in design as the Lada.

Thank you so much - info passed to husband! Because the car has literally been untouched since mum-in-law died, not on blocks or anything, the tyres I believe are flat!! And of course, it has not been started..so I reckon the engine might need a drop of oil etc!! Going to need some strong boys to push the beastie out of the garage so will have to wait until they are home (2 of them have just gone off for a week's holiday to Yorkshire) but I will take some pics asap, I promise... from what I can remember, there are no seatbelts in the back and husband says no radio! I have to say, I never liked the colour!! She sold a beautiful Wolsey and bought this Fiat and I could never quite understand why (!!) but I adored the little Fiat 500 'lawnmowers', as a boyfriend of my early youth called his...even if I had to learn to double de-clutch and it only did 40mph up the gentle Suffolk hills ;-)

It will need new tyres all round if they've been flat for a while. The old ones will have split and or knackered the inner braid. Complete service including coolant change and brake fluid. Inspection of brakes, suspension, exhaust system, fuel tank, filler pipe and cap. New battery as the old one will have corroded due to lack of use unless it was disconnected before being parked. Just please don't try and start it until its been thoroughly checked, be such a shame to lose a rare car. Wish I had the money spare because i'd love it. Repost again won't you as to how you get on.

Battery was disconnected so at least one less problem! Thank you again for your help...we will wait until we can ease her out of her kennel, take pics after giving her a dust and see if we can get someone to bite! Yes, will certainly come back here with further details etc. XX
