Certainly less potentially messy than easy bleed.

I think that most pro garages now have vacuum bleeding kit: I know of none that use easy bleed.

But the things are very useful: I've used mine to get a relatively small amount of oil out of a compressor (overfilled the damn thing), can be used top start off a siphon (petrol tastes foul!) as well as the usual diagnostic stuff.

But normally I just bleed brakes in the "normal" way..............;)

I've wondered how these actually work when bleeding brake systems. For priming completely dry or dained system then yes, remove brake nibble, shove conical adapter in the hole and suck. But to fine bleed surely one would have to do it via the brake nipple so you can shut the system off, and as we know the nipples only seal on the tapered seat and leak like crazy around the treads so when sucking via the bleed nipple you will also be draging in air around the thread so it will not be possible to determine if there is any air left in the braking system.

I'll be interested in finding out how you get on.

The trick -- I've never done it, and the body of mine is largely metal (but off FROST, not eBay) is said to be to use silicone grease around the nipples. Effectively you then suck the fluid down from the chamber atop the master cylinder.

Could be a good chat up line "I want to put silicone grease on your nipples and apply a vacuum..............." ;)

I've read that another trick is to remove nipple and wrap with ptfe tape and reinsert. Probably only works for a couple of goes though.

I'm sure Dave will give his new kit a good product review and road test and post back his findings tips and tricks. We should start a small "brake fluid kitty fund" for Dave's testing. ;)
