I have been thinking of a cheap way to quicken the steering on my "classic" Panda. I think the Uno Turbo rack might go on with a few mods. Before I buy one and try it I want to know it is worth it, so how many turns is it lock to lock? The standard Panda/Y10 rack is 3.5 and feels epic through the bus stop at Llandow!

Thanks for that. Obviously not the answer. Certainly the slowest quick rack I've heard of! Anybody got any ideas to speed the steering up for the amateur mechanic? I'm going for a smaller steering wheel to help physically get the work done faster.

Standard Mk2 UT MOMO wheel should fit the Panda splines?

I went with a Cinquecento sporting wheel in the end. How many Uno owners here have mucked about with classic Pandas? Seems like there is a lack of cross-over knowledge on what are very similar cars/markets?

I am doing my bit to brush up on Unos now as it is looking increasingly like my next car project.

The old Panda is rare here in NZ - there are a few 1000s around, and probably a handful of imported 4x4s (from Japan) - well, I know of one, anyway.

The new Panda is completely non-existent! For some reason, someone decided that only the 500 and the Grande Punto could be sold here (the Bravo was available but is now discontinued, all other models never came).

I would say for every 100 Unos on the road in NZ, there may be one Panda at most.

I have to say, the old Panda makes the Uno look like an upmarket car, kind of like a Punto compared to a Lancia Ypsilon :) (don't worry, we don't have Lancias either).

Good shout Craig. The Uno rack looked like it might almost fit without mods. Anyway, the idea is off the boil at the moment as I should have fitted the LSD by the weekend and steering might change in terms of weight and turn-in with less need to over steer the car, etc. Might make me happy to stick with what I got. I am planning on making a track car, so maybe I should leave the Panda alone for a bit and keep it great for road use.
