Technical Urgent regarding gearbox compatibility

My unlucky friend that is on his way to sweeden to pick up his belongings(A 2100km trip) is desperately looking for a new gearbox for the Ducato.

The Ducato is a 1996 mod of this type:
Modell:FIAT DUCATO 14 2.5 D 230BDMFB Motor:8140.67 Volum:2500 KW:62 HK:84

As far as I can see the smaller 1,9(XU) and 2,0(DW) engines in the Ducato/Jumper/Boxers are of Peugeot/Citroen origin while the pigger ones are Fiat.

From which models can he pick a new gearbox? Will it have to come from a 2,5 of similar age or can he use a gearbox from the other types?

An help is welcome as my friend Ørjan is in deep ****, stuck in the middle of nowhere:worship:

The only gearbox that are to be found within axeptable distance are from a 1999mod Ducato 2,8tdi motorhome. Chassisnumber ZFA23000005614766

Will that fit?

That chassis number isn't recognised but I'm fairly certain that the 2.8 gearbox wont' go onto the 2.5 engine.

Also the clutch and shift controls may be different.
