Dear all,

I hope someone with some knowledge can help! I have my barchetta in a garage and they are replacing the front headlight. They do not know how to get the plastic reflector/inserts out of the casing (the plastic piece with the 2 circular holes for headlamps). The new headlight I bought on eBay has a silver reflector instead of black, So I need to remove these from old and new and swap them into casing.

Can someone help? They were talking about breaking the front glass/clear plastic shell which sounded VERY scary.

Thanks to anyone who can help!!!

Dan.

Hi. I had both my headlights apart a couple of years ago when I had my B's front end re-sprayed. Both the head lamps were looking a bit foggy inside, there was dust on the bottom matt black area and one headlamp even had a small fly inside it! As far as I can remember the whole end piece was held on with 3 or 4 clips onto the body. It was just a matter of lifting the clips one by one and prising the end piece away from the body. I was then able to clean the insides with a soft cloth. I also cleaned the magnifying type lenses which were also foggy. Refitting was just a matter of pushing the end piece back into the body and making sure all the clips snapped back into place. I noticed that there was some sealant missing between the clear cover and the main body (probably were the dust & fly got in) so I ran some silicone sealant all around the join. Hope this helps as it certainly made my headlamps look a lot newer.

Hi guys ! I remember seeing some video in YouTube of similar optics and all have silicone seallent bethwen the translucid acrilic and the body of optic , the best way of removing it is heating All the front ligth on the cooking "thing"(i'm missing a word for it ):D
Then it's esyer to remove it apart, i think !

Davefridge: you have described how to separate the back of the lamp (with optics and adjustment mechanism) from the case, this is indeed easy but eits1000 needs to disassemble the case itself.

eits1000: your answer is here with a link to a photo guide:

Be careful with the job as it may be easy to break the transparent cover.
Also, it may be easier to sell the silver lamp (2001 naxos version) and get a black one from a standard model.
